1. Important Safety Information
Please read and understand all instructions before installation and operation of your ALEKO awning. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or property damage.
- Proposition 65 Warning: This product may contain chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
- Always use the hand crank carefully.
- Retract the awning during heavy winds and storms to prevent damage.
- Do not cut awning arms free until the awning is completely installed. The arms are under strong spring tension and can cause injury if released prematurely.
- Ensure all mounting hardware is securely fastened to a stable structure.
- Keep children and pets away from the awning during operation.
- Do not hang objects from the awning frame or fabric.
- Regularly inspect the awning for any signs of wear, damage, or loose components.

3. Setup and Installation
This section guides you through the assembly and installation of your ALEKO motorized retractable patio awning.
3.1. Unpacking and Initial Layout
Carefully unpack all components and lay them out on a clean, flat surface. Ensure you have sufficient space for assembly.

3.2. Connecting Torsion Bars
- Insert a torsion bar connector into one section of the torsion bar, aligning two of the four pre-drilled holes.
- Secure the connector using one bolt, one washer, and one nut in both pre-drilled holes.
- Connect the adjacent torsion bar section onto the same connector.
- Repeat these steps until all three torsion bar sections are connected to one another.
3.3. Connecting Roller Tubes
- Insert a roller connector into one section of the roller tube, aligning two of the four pre-drilled holes.
- Secure the roller connector using the provided small Phillips screws.
- Connect the adjacent roller tube section onto the same connector.
- Repeat these steps until all three roller tube sections are connected.
3.4. Front Bar Assembly
- Insert a front bar connector into one section of the front bar, aligning two of the four pre-drilled holes.
- Secure the front bar connector using the provided small Phillips screws.
- Connect the adjacent front bar section onto the same connector.
- Repeat these steps until all three front bar sections are connected.
3.5. Fabric Assembly (Awning and Valance)
- Feed the thinnest spline through one side of the awning fabric. This side will be connected to the roller.
- Feed the thickest spline through the other end of the awning fabric. This side will be connected to the front bar.
- Feed the last of the thick spline into the valance fabric.
3.6. Roller Tube Fabric Attachment
- Slide the awning fabric with the thin spline into the roller groove. Ensure the overlapping seam faces towards the roller.
- Roll the fabric counter-clockwise onto the roller so the overlapping seam of the fabric is faced towards the roller.
3.7. Front Bar Fabric Attachment
- Feed the valance fabric and spline into the front bar groove.
- Slide the awning fabric and thick spline into the front bar groove.
3.8. Installing the Motor
- Remove both D brackets and one roller cap from the ends of the roller.
- Before inserting the motor into the roller, ensure the motor pegs align with the slots on the inside of the roller.
- Slide the motor completely inside the awning roller.
- Thread the bolts through the H brackets and secure them to the end of the motor using the pin.
- Insert the bolts through the D bracket mounts and secure them to the awning frame. Secure all bolts with washers and nuts.
- Remove the screw from the shaft of the hand crank tool and insert it into the hole in the motor with the loop facing towards the ground.
- Place the screw back into the shaft and tighten it with a Phillips head screwdriver.
- Ensure the motor is completely inside the roller and reinstall the end brackets on both ends of the roller.
3.9. Attaching Center Support and Arm Bar Links
- Insert the arm bar links and blockers into the groove of the front bar near the awning arm connectors.
- If needed, remove screws, place the arm bar links and blocker, then replace the screws.
- Connect the arm bar links into the awning arm connector and snugly secure with provided hardware. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN THE NUTS ON THE AWNING ARM.
- Secure the arm bar links to the front of the front bar.
- Attach the center support to the middle of the awning frame so the rollers are hugging the awning fabric and the center support frame is resting on the awning frame. Secure with provided hardware.
3.10. Mounting the Awning
- Attach the wall mounts to the structure. Ensure the structure is suitable for supporting the weight and forces of the awning.
- Place the entire awning onto the wall mounts and secure with provided hardware.
3.11. Releasing Awning Arms
CAUTION: Carefully cut the arms free once the awning is securely mounted. The arms are under tension and will pop out quickly.
- Once the awning is securely mounted, carefully cut the straps or ties holding the awning arms in place.
- Fully open the awning and slide the blockers into position to the length of the folded arms.
3.12. Final Touches
- Cut any excess spline from the awning.
- Insert all end caps onto the frame.

4. Operation
Your ALEKO motorized awning offers convenient operation via remote control and app control.
4.1. Remote Control Pairing
- Turn the remote over and remove the back cover. Inside, you will find a battery placement area and a small orange P2 button.
- Insert the battery into the remote with the positive (+) side toward the bottom of the remote.
- Unplug the awning from the power outlet and wait 10 seconds. Then, plug the awning back into the outlet.
- For Right-Facing Motor: Push the P2 button twice. Immediately turn the remote over and push the top button twice. Then push the bottom button once to engage the awning.
- For Left-Facing Motor: Push the P2 button twice. Immediately turn the remote over and push the bottom button twice. Then push the bottom button a third time to engage the awning.
- Replace the battery cover on the back of the remote once pairing is complete.
4.2. Adjusting Limit Switches
Limit switches control the fully open and fully closed positions of your awning.
- For Right-Facing Motor: The red limit switch adjusts the open position. The white limit switch adjusts the close position.
- For Left-Facing Motor: The white limit switch adjusts the open position. The red limit switch adjusts the close position.
- With the awning still open, adjust the open limit switch to the desired length.
- Close the entire awning and adjust the close limit switch to the desired position.
4.3. Manual Operation (Hand Crank)
In case of power outage or motor malfunction, the awning can be operated manually using the provided hand crank. Insert the hand crank into the designated loop on the motor and rotate to extend or retract the awning.
4.4. App Control
This awning supports Wi-Fi Smart Hub Pairing for control via a smartphone app. Refer to the separate Smart Hub instructions for detailed setup and operation of the app control features.
5. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your awning.
- Cleaning: Clean the awning fabric regularly with mild soap and water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive brushes that could damage the fabric coating. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air dry completely before retracting.
- Frame Inspection: Periodically check all bolts, screws, and connections for tightness. Tighten any loose hardware.
- Fabric Condition: Inspect the fabric for tears, fraying, or mildew. Address any issues promptly to prevent further damage.
- Seasonal Care: In areas with heavy snow or ice, it is recommended to retract the awning during winter months to prevent damage from accumulation.
- Motor Care: The motor is generally maintenance-free. Keep the motor area clean and free from debris.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your awning, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Awning Not Responding to Remote:
- Check if the remote control battery is correctly inserted and has sufficient charge.
- Ensure the awning is plugged into a working power outlet.
- Re-pair the remote control following the instructions in Section 4.1.
- Awning Not Extending/Retracting Fully:
- Adjust the limit switches as described in Section 4.2.
- Check for any obstructions preventing full movement.
- Awning Making Unusual Noises:
- Inspect the frame and arms for any loose parts or debris.
- Ensure the fabric is rolling smoothly and not snagging.
- LED Lights Not Working:
- Check the power connection to the LED strip.
- Ensure the remote control is functioning correctly for light operation.
