Setup and Assembly

Before beginning assembly, ensure all components are present and accounted for. It is recommended to have at least two people for assembly, which typically takes approximately 3 hours. Wear gloves during assembly for safety.

Components Checklist:

  • Galvanized Steel Pipes (various lengths)
  • Corner Connectors and T-Connectors
  • Hexagonal Wire Mesh Rolls
  • PE Tarp (Anti-UV, Waterproof Cover)
  • Bungee Cords/Ties for Tarp
  • Door Assembly Components
  • Chicken Perch (Galvanized Pipes and Eucalyptus Wood)
  • Ground Stakes/Reinforced Rods
  • Assembly Instructions Manual

Assembly Steps:

  1. Prepare the Area: Choose a flat, level area for the chicken coop. Clear any debris or sharp objects.
  2. Assemble the Base Frame: Connect the longer galvanized pipes using the corner and T-connectors to form the rectangular base. The pipes snap into place by pushing down the pins.
  3. Erect the Side and Roof Frames: Continue connecting pipes and connectors to build the vertical sides and the sloped roof structure. Ensure all connections are secure.
  4. Install Wire Mesh: Unroll the hexagonal wire mesh and attach it securely to the frame using the provided fasteners. Ensure there are no gaps that predators could exploit.
  5. Assemble and Install Door: Construct the door frame and attach it to the designated opening. Ensure the lockable design functions correctly for security.
  6. Attach PE Cover: Drape the anti-UV and waterproof PE tarp over the roof frame. Secure it firmly using the bungee cords or ties through the grommets. Ensure the sloped design allows for proper water runoff.
  7. Install Chicken Perch: Assemble the 55" x 40" chicken perch from galvanized pipes and eucalyptus wood. Place it inside the coop in a suitable location for roosting.
  8. Secure to Ground: Use the provided ground stakes or reinforced rods to anchor the coop firmly to the ground, enhancing wind resistance and stability.

Operating the Chicken Coop

The Sannwsg chicken coop is designed for ease of use and animal welfare. It can comfortably house 10-20 chickens, or other small animals like ducks, geese, and rabbits, depending on their size and number.

Feeding System:

The coop features a convenient half-door feeding system. This independent feeding port allows you to provide food and water to your animals without fully entering the enclosure, minimizing the risk of escapes and simplifying daily care.

Animal Capacity:

This 13x10 FT coop provides ample space. While designed for 10-20 chickens, it can accommodate up to 40 chicks or 20 adult chickens. It is also suitable for other small animals. Always ensure adequate space per animal for their comfort and health.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance will extend the life of your Sannwsg chicken coop and ensure a healthy environment for your animals.

  • Daily Checks: Inspect the coop daily for any signs of damage, loose connections, or compromised mesh. Ensure the feeding door mechanism is clean and functional.
  • Cleaning: The PVC-coated wire mesh is easy to clean. Regularly remove droppings and old bedding. Periodically hose down the mesh and frame with water. For deeper cleaning, use a mild, pet-safe disinfectant.
  • Tarp Inspection: Check the PE cover for any tears or damage, especially after strong winds or heavy precipitation. Ensure it remains securely fastened to the frame.
  • Frame Integrity: Periodically check all pipe connections to ensure they remain secure. The galvanized steel frame is rust-resistant, but cleaning off accumulated dirt can help maintain its condition.
  • Perch Maintenance: Clean the eucalyptus wood perch regularly to prevent buildup of droppings and maintain hygiene for roosting animals.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Coop feels unstable or wobbly.Loose pipe connections; uneven ground; insufficient anchoring.Check all pipe connections and ensure pins are fully engaged. Relocate to a more level surface if possible. Ensure ground stakes are fully inserted and secure.
Water pooling on the roof cover.Tarp not taut enough; improper installation.Re-tension bungee cords/ties to ensure the tarp is pulled taut and follows the roof's slope. Verify correct installation as per assembly instructions.
Predators attempting to enter.Gaps in mesh; unsecured door; insufficient ground barrier.Inspect entire mesh for any holes or gaps and repair immediately. Ensure the door is fully closed and locked. Consider burying the bottom edge of the mesh or adding a skirt to deter digging predators.
Difficulty with feeding door operation.Debris in mechanism; bent components.Clear any dirt or debris from the feeding door hinges and latch. Straighten any bent components if possible, or contact support for replacement parts.
