4.2 Wiring Connections

Refer to the wiring diagram inside the disconnect switch cover and follow all local electrical codes.

  1. Route the incoming power supply wires into the appropriate knockouts on the enclosure.
  2. Connect the incoming line wires to the designated line terminals (L1, L2).
  3. Connect the outgoing load wires to the designated load terminals (T1, T2).
  4. Connect the ground wire to the ground lug.
  5. Ensure all screw terminals are tightened securely to prevent loose connections, which can cause overheating or arcing.

4.3 Fuse Installation (for Fused Models)

This model is fused. Ensure the correct type and rating of fuses are installed. The ZDS-30F requires 30A fuses.

  1. With the pull-out handle removed (OFF position), insert the appropriate fuses into the fuse clips.
  2. Ensure fuses are seated firmly.

5. Operating Instructions

The ZDS-30F disconnect switch operates using a pull-out handle mechanism.

  • To Disconnect Power (OFF): Firmly pull the handle straight out from the switch body. The handle can then be inverted and re-inserted into the OFF position for secure storage, preventing accidental re-energization.
  • To Connect Power (ON): Ensure the handle is correctly oriented for the ON position. Insert the handle firmly and completely into the switch body until it is fully seated. A protective shield linked to the handle ensures power is disconnected if the handle is not fully inserted.

Always ensure the handle is fully inserted for proper operation and to maintain a secure connection. Refer to the "NOTES" image in Section 4.2 for visual guidance on correct connection.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and safe operation of your disconnect switch.

  • Annual Inspection: Annually inspect the enclosure for any signs of damage, corrosion, or loose connections.
  • Cleaning: Keep the exterior of the enclosure clean from dirt, debris, and insect nests. Use a damp cloth; do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Fuse Replacement: If a fuse blows, always replace it with a fuse of the same type and rating (30A). Ensure power is disconnected before replacing fuses.
  • Handle Operation: Periodically check that the pull-out handle operates smoothly and seats firmly in both ON and OFF positions.
