2. Safety Information

  • Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning assembly and use.
  • This tank is not suitable for holding water. It is designed for arid or semi-arid reptile habitats.
  • Ensure all electrical connections are secure and positioned away from potential moisture sources.
  • Keep all small parts and packaging materials away from children and pets during assembly to prevent choking hazards.
  • Do not overload the built-in power outlet. Adhere to the maximum wattage ratings for connected devices.
  • Place the terrarium on a stable, level surface to prevent tipping.

3. Package Contents

Before beginning assembly, carefully unpack all components and verify that all parts are present. Refer to the detailed parts list included with your product for a complete inventory. If any parts are missing or damaged, please contact Herture customer support immediately.

4. Setup Instructions

4.1 Assembly

Follow the step-by-step assembly guide provided in the separate instruction booklet. It is highly recommended to have two people for assembly due to the size and weight of the unit. Ensure all screws and fasteners are tightened securely, but do not overtighten to avoid damaging the wood.

4.2 Placement

Choose a suitable location for your terrarium. The ideal spot should be:

  • On a stable, level surface capable of supporting the weight of the terrarium and its contents.
  • Away from direct sunlight, which can cause overheating.
  • Away from drafts from windows or air conditioning units.
  • In an area with consistent room temperature.
  • With adequate space around it for easy access, cleaning, and proper ventilation.

4.3 Power Connection

The terrarium features a built-in 4-AC socket power strip for convenient integration of your reptile's essential equipment.

  • Connect heating lamps, humidifiers, UVB lighting, and thermostats to the integrated power strip.
  • Ensure the main power cord from the terrarium is securely plugged into a grounded wall outlet.
  • Always check that all devices are functioning correctly after connection.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Regular cleaning is crucial for maintaining a healthy environment for your reptile.

  • Interior: Remove your reptile and any decor. Clean the interior surfaces with reptile-safe cleaning solutions. Avoid harsh chemicals, ammonia-based cleaners, or strong disinfectants that could leave harmful residues. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry completely before reintroducing your pet.
  • Exterior: Wipe down the exterior surfaces with a damp cloth. For stubborn marks, use a mild, non-abrasive cleaner.
  • Acrylic Doors: Clean acrylic doors with a soft cloth and an acrylic-safe cleaner to prevent scratches.

6.2 Substrate Management

Replace substrate as needed to maintain hygiene and appropriate humidity levels. The tank bottom is constructed from MDF and is not designed for wet substrates or standing water. Ensure any substrate used is dry or semi-dry and changed regularly to prevent mold or bacterial growth.

6.3 Ventilation

Periodically check that the mesh top and any side vents are clear of obstructions to ensure proper airflow and prevent stagnant air, which can lead to respiratory issues for your reptile.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Assembly Difficulties: If you encounter issues during assembly, carefully review the instruction manual and ensure all parts are correctly oriented. Some pre-drilled holes may require extra attention during screw insertion. Do not force components; if a part does not fit, re-examine the instructions.
  • Humidity Control: If you are struggling to maintain desired humidity levels, consider using black tape on the top screen to help retain moisture, as some users have found effective. Monitor humidity with a hygrometer.
  • Door Operation: If the sliding doors are not moving smoothly, check the tracks for any debris or obstructions. Clean the tracks thoroughly. Ensure the doors are properly seated in their grooves.
  • Power Outlet Malfunction: Verify that the power strip's main switch is in the 'ON' position and that the terrarium's main power cord is securely plugged into a functional wall outlet. Test the outlet with another device if necessary.
