5.1 Battery Installation

The Povlen TH570-Y requires alkaline batteries for operation. Ensure batteries are correctly installed before use.

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Slide or open the cover.
  3. Insert the required batteries, observing the correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On/Off

To power on the device, press and hold the "ON/OFF" button. To power off, press and hold the "ON/OFF" button again until the display turns off, or the device will automatically power off after a period of inactivity.

6.2 Mode Selection

Press the "MODE" button to cycle through the available scanning modes: Stud 1/2", Stud 1", Stud 1 1/2", Metal, and AC. The selected mode will be indicated on the LCD display.

6.3 Scanning Procedure

For accurate readings, the device must be calibrated against the wall surface before each scan. Calibration ensures the sensor is adjusted to the wall's density.

  1. Calibrate: Place the stud finder flat against the wall where you intend to start scanning. Ensure there are no studs, metal, or wires in the immediate area. Press and hold the "ON/OFF" button. Keep the device still against the wall until the calibration is complete (usually a few seconds). The display will show "CENTER" or a similar indication when ready. Release the "ON/OFF" button.

  3. Select Mode: Choose the appropriate scanning mode using the "MODE" button.
  4. Scan: While holding the "ON/OFF" button, slowly slide the device horizontally across the wall surface. Maintain constant contact with the wall.

  6. Detect Edge: As the device moves over the edge of a stud, the signal strength bars will increase, and an edge indicator may appear.

  8. Locate Center: Continue sliding until the "CENTER" indicator appears on the display, accompanied by an audio alert. This indicates the center of the stud.

  10. Verify and Mark: For best accuracy, scan the area from both directions and mark the center point where the "CENTER" indicator consistently appears.

6.4 Live AC Wire Detection

The device provides continuous live AC wire alerts in all modes. If a live AC wire is detected, a specific icon (e.g., lightning bolt) will appear on the display, and an audio alert will sound. Exercise extreme caution when live wires are indicated.
