2. Safety Precautions
WARNING: Always read and understand all safety warnings and instructions before using this equipment. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury or property damage.
- Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including safety glasses and gloves, when working with refrigerants and HVAC systems.
- Refrigerants can cause frostbite upon contact with skin or eyes. In case of contact, flush with water and seek immediate medical attention.
- Work in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling refrigerant vapors.
- Ensure all connections are secure before pressurizing the system. Leaks can lead to refrigerant loss and potential hazards.
- Never expose refrigerant containers to direct sunlight or temperatures above 125°F (52°C).
- The vacuum pump contains moving parts and operates with electricity. Keep hands and clothing clear of moving parts. Ensure the power supply matches the pump's requirements.
- Do not use the vacuum pump in explosive atmospheres or near flammable materials. The sparkless motor design reduces risk but caution is still advised.
- Dispose of used refrigerant and vacuum pump oil according to local environmental regulations.

5. Setup Instructions
Before beginning any work, ensure you have read and understood the safety precautions.
- Prepare the Vacuum Pump:
- Unpack the vacuum pump and place it on a stable, level surface.
- Remove the oil fill cap and add the provided vacuum pump oil until the level is between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the sight glass. Do not overfill.
- Ensure the power switch is in the "OFF" position before plugging the pump into a grounded electrical outlet.
- Connect the Manifold Gauge Set:
- Identify the high-pressure (red) and low-pressure (blue) hoses, and the service/vacuum (yellow) hose.
- Connect the red hose to the high-side port of the manifold gauge.
- Connect the blue hose to the low-side port of the manifold gauge.
- Connect the yellow hose to the central service port of the manifold gauge.
- Prepare for System Connection:
- Ensure the high and low side valves on the manifold gauge are closed.
- Attach the appropriate quick couplers (R134a or R1234yf) to the ends of the red and blue hoses.
6. Operating Instructions
6.1. Evacuating an AC System (Vacuuming)
Evacuating the AC system removes moisture and non-condensable gases, which are critical for proper system function.
- Connect the high-side (red) and low-side (blue) quick couplers to the respective service ports on the vehicle's AC system. Ensure they are securely latched.
- Connect the free end of the yellow service hose to the intake port of the vacuum pump.
- Open both the high-side and low-side valves on the manifold gauge set.
- Turn on the vacuum pump. Observe the low-side gauge (blue) for a drop in pressure, indicating the system is being evacuated.
- Allow the pump to run until the low-side gauge reads approximately 29-30 inches of mercury (inHg) vacuum, or until the system reaches its ultimate partial pressure (e.g., 150 microns). The duration depends on system size and ambient conditions.
- Once the desired vacuum is achieved, close both the high-side and low-side valves on the manifold gauge set.
- Turn off the vacuum pump.
- Monitor the gauges for at least 15-30 minutes. If the vacuum holds steady, the system is leak-free and properly evacuated. If the vacuum rises, there is a leak that needs to be addressed before proceeding.
- Disconnect the yellow hose from the vacuum pump.
6.2. Charging an AC System
After successful evacuation, the system can be charged with the appropriate refrigerant.
- Ensure the AC system is still under vacuum and the manifold gauge valves are closed.
- Connect the free end of the yellow service hose to the refrigerant can tap or refrigerant tank.
- Purge the yellow hose: Slightly open the refrigerant can tap/tank valve to allow a small amount of refrigerant to flow through the yellow hose, pushing out any air. Quickly close the valve. This prevents air from entering the system.
- Start the vehicle engine and turn on the AC to its maximum setting with the fan on high.
- Slowly open the low-side (blue) valve on the manifold gauge.
- Open the refrigerant can tap/tank valve. The refrigerant will be drawn into the AC system.
- Monitor the low-side and high-side gauges, and the refrigerant amount being added. Refer to the vehicle manufacturer's specifications for the correct charge amount and pressure readings.
- Once the desired charge is reached, close the refrigerant can tap/tank valve, then close the low-side (blue) valve on the manifold gauge.
- Turn off the vehicle engine and AC.
- Carefully disconnect the quick couplers from the vehicle's AC service ports. Expect a small hiss of refrigerant as the couplers are removed.
7. Maintenance
7.1. Vacuum Pump Oil Change
Regular oil changes are crucial for the longevity and performance of your vacuum pump. Change the oil after every 10-20 hours of operation or if the oil appears cloudy or discolored.
- Ensure the vacuum pump is turned off and unplugged.
- Place a suitable container under the oil drain plug.
- Remove the oil drain plug and the oil fill cap to allow the old oil to drain completely.
- Replace the oil drain plug securely.
- Fill the pump with new, clean vacuum pump oil until the level is between the "MIN" and "MAX" marks on the sight glass.
- Replace the oil fill cap.
- Dispose of used oil responsibly according to local regulations.
7.2. Manifold Gauge Set Care
- After each use, clean the hoses and fittings to remove any refrigerant residue.
- Store the manifold gauge set in its protective case to prevent damage to the gauges and hoses.
- Periodically check hoses for cracks, leaks, or wear and replace them if necessary.
- Ensure gauge calibration is maintained. If accuracy is suspected, use the calibration screw or consult a professional.
8. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Vacuum pump not starting | No power; Faulty switch; Motor issue | Check power connection and outlet; Ensure switch is ON; Contact customer support if motor is faulty. |
| Vacuum not holding (rises after pump is off) | System leak; Loose connections; Faulty manifold valve | Perform leak detection on AC system and connections; Tighten all fittings; Inspect manifold valves for proper sealing. |
| Slow vacuuming process | Low oil level/dirty oil in pump; System leak; Restricted hoses | Check and change vacuum pump oil; Check for system leaks; Inspect hoses for kinks or blockages. |
| Gauges not reading correctly | Gauge out of calibration; Damaged gauge | Use calibration screw if possible; Replace damaged gauge. |
| Refrigerant not entering system during charging | Manifold valves closed; Can tap not fully open; System not under vacuum | Ensure low-side valve is open; Fully open can tap; Ensure system is properly evacuated. |
