Setup and Installation

The Badabulle Safe&Pass gate uses a pressure-fit system, requiring no drilling. It is designed for openings between 75 cm and 81.5 cm. For wider openings, 7 cm and 14 cm extensions are available separately.

  1. Unpack Components: Carefully remove all parts from the packaging and verify against the package contents list.
  2. Assemble Gate Frame: The gate comes partially assembled. Insert the pressure mounting bolts into the four corners of the gate frame.
  3. Position Gate: Place the gate in the desired opening. Ensure the bottom bar is flush with the floor and the gate is centered.
  4. Install Wall Cups: Attach the four wall cups to the wall/door frame where the pressure bolts will make contact. These provide extra grip and protect surfaces.
  5. Tighten Pressure Bolts: Gradually tighten the pressure bolts by rotating them. Tighten opposing bolts simultaneously to ensure even pressure. Continue tightening until the gate is firmly secured and does not move when pushed. Do not overtighten.
  6. Install Batteries in Sensors: Insert 2 AA batteries into the detection sensor unit and 2 AA batteries into the opening sensor unit.
  7. Mount Sensors:
    • Mount the opening sensor unit on the gate frame, near the latch mechanism.
    • Mount the detection sensor unit on the wall, approximately 60 cm above the opening sensor unit. Ensure both sensors have a clear line of sight to detect movement.
  8. Test Installation: Push and pull the gate firmly to ensure it is securely installed. The gate should not move. Check the latch mechanism for proper engagement.

Operating Instructions

Automated Unlocking System

The Safe&Pass gate features an automated unlocking system that detects an adult's presence, allowing for hands-free opening.

  1. Approach the Gate: As an adult approaches the gate, the detection sensor (mounted 60 cm above the opening sensor) will identify an adult-height presence.
  2. Automatic Unlocking: Upon detection, the gate's locking mechanism will automatically disengage.
  3. Open the Gate: Gently push the gate open with your hip or leg. The gate opens in both directions.
  4. Automatic Closing: The gate is designed to close automatically. Ensure it swings shut completely and the latch engages.
  5. Audible Alarm: If the gate remains open for an extended period, an audible alarm will sound to alert you. Close the gate immediately.

Manual Opening System

A manual opening system is available for use when batteries are low or if preferred.

  1. Locate Manual Latch: Identify the manual latch mechanism on the gate.
  2. Engage Double Locking System: The gate features a double locking system for enhanced safety. Simultaneously press the release button and lift the gate handle to disengage the latch.
  3. Open the Gate: Swing the gate open in the desired direction.
  4. Close the Gate: Push the gate firmly until it clicks into place, ensuring both locking mechanisms are engaged.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Clean the gate and sensors with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace the AA batteries in both sensor units when the low battery indicator appears or if the automated unlocking system becomes unreliable.
  • Regular Checks: Periodically check all pressure bolts to ensure they remain tight. Verify that the gate swings freely and the latch mechanisms engage securely.
  • Sensor Alignment: Ensure the detection and opening sensors remain properly aligned and free from obstructions.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Gate does not unlock automatically.Low batteries in sensors; sensor misalignment; obstruction.Replace batteries in both sensor units. Check sensor alignment and clear any obstructions. Ensure the detection sensor is mounted 60 cm above the opening sensor.
Gate feels loose after installation.Pressure bolts are not tight enough.Retighten all four pressure bolts evenly until the gate is secure.
Audible alarm sounds frequently.Gate is not closing completely; sensor issue.Ensure the gate swings shut and latches fully. Check for obstructions preventing full closure. Verify sensor function and battery levels.
Gate is difficult to open manually.Double locking mechanism not fully disengaged; gate frame slightly misaligned.Ensure both parts of the double locking system are pressed/lifted simultaneously. Check if the gate is installed perfectly vertically and horizontally.
