5. Setup

  1. Attach the Backing Plate: The 3-inch backing plate is typically pre-attached. If not, align it with the polisher's spindle and secure it firmly.
  2. Select and Attach Sponge Pad: Choose the appropriate sponge pad for your task (polishing, cutting, or waxing). The pads attach to the backing plate via a hook-and-loop system. Press the pad firmly onto the backing plate, ensuring it is centered.
  3. Power Connection: Ensure the polisher's power switch is in the "OFF" position. Plug the 3M (10ft) power cord into a standard 120V electrical outlet.

6. Operating Instructions

  1. Apply Compound/Polish: Apply a small amount of your chosen compound, polish, or wax directly onto the sponge pad or the work surface.
  2. Power On and Speed Selection: Hold the polisher firmly. Slide the ON/OFF switch to the "ON" position. Adjust the speed using the 6-speed control dial located at the rear of the tool.
    • Gear 1-2 (2000-3000 OPM): Ideal for waxing and buffing.
    • Gear 3-4 (3000-5000 OPM): Suitable for polishing and cleaning.
    • Gear 5-6 (5000-6500 OPM): Recommended for removing paint defects and oxidation.
  3. Polishing Technique: Place the rotating pad flat on the work surface before applying pressure. Move the polisher in a consistent, overlapping pattern, maintaining even pressure. The dual-action orbital motion helps prevent holograms and paint burn.
  4. Work in Sections: For best results, work on small sections at a time (e.g., 2x2 feet).
  5. Power Off: Once finished, lift the polisher from the surface and slide the ON/OFF switch to the "OFF" position.
