Setup
1. Battery Installation
The Boncare Infrared Thermometer requires 2 AAA batteries, which are included. To install or replace batteries:
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
- Slide the cover open.
- Insert the 2 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -).
- Close the battery compartment cover securely.
2. Power On and Unit Selection
Press the power button to turn on the thermometer. The device will perform a self-check and display the last reading. To switch between Fahrenheit (°F) and Celsius (°C):
- While the device is off, press and hold the power button for approximately 6 seconds until the unit changes.
- Release the button, and the new unit will be set.
Operating Instructions
1. Forehead Temperature Measurement
For forehead measurements, ensure the probe cover is in place.
- Turn on the thermometer.
- Gently place the thermometer probe against the center of the forehead.
- Press the measurement button once. A short beep will sound.
- Keep the thermometer steady until a longer beep indicates the measurement is complete (approximately 1 second).
- The temperature reading will be displayed on the screen.
2. Ear Temperature Measurement
For ear measurements, the probe cover must be removed.
- Turn on the thermometer.
- Gently pull off the probe cover. Ensure the two arrows on the cover and device align when replacing it.
- Carefully insert the probe into the ear canal as far as it can comfortably go.
- Press the measurement button once. A short beep will sound.
- Keep the thermometer steady until a longer beep indicates the measurement is complete (approximately 1 second).
- The temperature reading will be displayed on the screen.
3. Memory Recall
The thermometer can store up to 32 previous temperature readings. To access memory recall:
- With the thermometer on, press the memory button (if available, or the main button multiple times depending on model) to cycle through stored readings.
- Each press will display a previous reading, starting from the most recent.
4. Fever Alarm
The device features a fever alarm. If a temperature exceeds a preset threshold, the display backlight may change color (e.g., red) and an audible alarm may sound to indicate a potential fever.
5. Silent Mode
The thermometer supports a silent mode, which can be useful for measuring temperature without disturbing a sleeping child. Refer to the device's specific button combinations or settings menu to activate/deactivate silent mode.
