Safety Instructions
Always follow these safety guidelines to minimize the risk of injury:
- Wear Eye Protection: Always wear safety goggles to protect your eyes from flying debris.
- Secure Workpiece: Ensure the material being cut is firmly clamped or held in place to prevent movement during cutting.
- Keep Hands Clear: Never place hands near the saw blade while operating the tool.
- Stable Work Surface: Operate the miter box on a stable, level surface to prevent tipping.
- Proper Blade: Use only the correct type and size of saw blade (550mm) for the material being cut.
- Clean Work Area: Keep your work area clear of clutter to avoid accidents.
- Inspect Tool: Before each use, inspect the miter box and saw blade for any damage or loose parts. Do not use if damaged.

Setup
Follow these steps to set up your miter box:
- Unpack: Carefully remove all components from the packaging.
- Inspect: Check for any shipping damage or missing parts.
- Position: Place the miter box on a sturdy, flat workbench or surface.
- Secure Base: If possible, clamp or bolt the bottom plate of the miter box to your work surface for maximum stability during operation.
- Blade Installation: Ensure the 550mm saw blade is securely attached to the saw bow and slide frame assembly. Refer to Figure 1 for component identification.
Operating Instructions
This section details how to use your miter box for accurate cuts.
1. Setting the Cutting Angle
- Unlock Angle Adjustment: Locate the angle adjustment mechanism (refer to Figure 1). Loosen the locking knob or lever that secures the swivel disk.
- Rotate Swivel Disk: Carefully rotate the swivel disk to the desired angle. The miter box features laser-etched angle guides for common angles such as 15°, 22.5°, 30°, 36°, 45°, and 90°.
- Lock Angle: Once the desired angle is aligned, tighten the locking knob or lever firmly to secure the swivel disk in place.

2. Making a Cut
- Position Material: Place the workpiece firmly against the fence of the miter box. Ensure the cutting line on your material aligns with the saw blade's path.
- Secure Material: Use clamps (not included) to hold the workpiece securely against the fence and the base of the miter box. This is crucial for accuracy and safety.
- Begin Cut: Hold the saw bow handle firmly. Apply steady, even pressure while pushing the saw blade through the material. Allow the blade to do the work; do not force it.
- Complete Cut: Continue sawing until the cut is complete. Maintain control of the saw bow throughout the entire cutting motion.
- Remove Material: Once the cut is finished, carefully remove the cut piece and the remaining workpiece.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your miter box:
- Cleaning: After each use, clear sawdust and debris from the miter box, especially around the swivel disk and slide frame, using a brush or compressed air.
- Blade Inspection: Periodically check the saw blade for sharpness and damage. A dull or damaged blade can lead to poor cuts and increased effort. Replace the blade if necessary.
- Lubrication: Apply a light lubricant to the slide frame rods and pivot points as needed to ensure smooth operation.
- Storage: Store the miter box in a dry, clean environment to prevent rust and damage.
Troubleshooting
Refer to this table for common issues and their solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Inaccurate cuts | Workpiece not secured; Angle not locked; Dull blade | Secure workpiece with clamps; Ensure angle adjustment is locked; Replace or sharpen blade. |
| Saw blade binds | Forcing the cut; Dull blade; Incorrect blade for material | Apply steady, even pressure; Replace blade; Use appropriate blade for material. |
| Difficulty adjusting angle | Debris in mechanism; Lack of lubrication | Clean debris from swivel disk; Apply light lubricant to pivot points. |
