1. Introduction

This manual provides comprehensive instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Aqua-Pure IL-IM-01 In-Line Water Filtration System. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use to ensure proper function and safety.

The Aqua-Pure IL-IM-01 is designed to reduce sediment, chlorine taste, and odor from your drinking water and ice cubes. It is an ideal solution for refrigerators without built-in filters, drinking fountains, ice makers, coffee machines, and drink dispensers.

• Do not exceed the maximum rated pressure of 125 psi (862 kPa).
• Do not install in areas exposed to freezing temperatures.
• Ensure all connections are secure to prevent leaks.

• Replace the filter cartridge every 6 months or sooner if flow rate diminishes significantly.

• Rated at 5 micron* to help provide sediment reduction as well as chlorine taste and odor reduction for up to 2,500 gallons/9,465 liters at 0.5 gpm/1.89 lpm.
• System is NSF/ANSI Standard 42 listed.

4. Installation and Setup

4.1 Tools and Materials Required:

• Adjustable wrench
• Pipe cutter or utility knife (for plastic tubing)
• Teflon tape
• Bucket or towel for water spills
• Mounting screws (if mounting bracket is used)

4.2 Installation Steps:

1. Turn off Water Supply: Locate the main water shut-off valve to the appliance (e.g., refrigerator, ice maker) and turn it off.
2. Relieve Pressure: Open the water dispenser or run the ice maker cycle to relieve any remaining water pressure in the line.
3. Cut Water Line: Determine the desired location for the filter. Ensure there is enough space for the filter and easy access for future replacement. Cut the existing water line at the chosen point. Ensure the cut is clean and straight.
4. Connect Filter:
   • Apply Teflon tape to the threaded fittings of the filter if they are not quick-connect.
   • Connect one end of the cut water line to the "IN" side of the filter and the other end to the "OUT" side. Ensure the flow arrow on the filter points in the direction of water flow towards the appliance.
   • Tighten connections securely, but do not overtighten.
5. Mount Filter (Optional): If desired, secure the filter using mounting clips or brackets (not included) to a stable surface, ensuring it is vertical and easily accessible.
6. Flush Filter:
   • Place the open end of the water line (after the filter, before the appliance) into a bucket.
   • Slowly turn on the main water supply.
   • Allow water to flow through the filter and into the bucket for approximately 5 minutes to flush out any carbon fines and air. The water may appear cloudy initially.
   • Turn off the water supply again.
7. Final Connection: Connect the flushed water line to your appliance.
8. Check for Leaks: Slowly turn on the main water supply and carefully inspect all connections for leaks. Tighten any leaking connections.
9. Date Installation: Write the installation date on the filter label for future reference.

5. Operation

Once installed, the Aqua-Pure IL-IM-01 operates automatically, filtering water as it passes through the system to your appliance. No user interaction is required for daily operation.

Initial Use:

After installation and flushing, the water from your appliance should be clear and free of any initial carbon taste. If you notice any cloudiness or unusual taste, flush the system for an additional 2-3 minutes.

6. Maintenance

The primary maintenance for the Aqua-Pure IL-IM-01 system is the periodic replacement of the filter cartridge.

6.1 Filter Replacement:

It is recommended to replace the filter cartridge every 6 months or sooner if you observe a noticeable drop in water flow or a return of chlorine taste and odor.

1. Turn off Water Supply: Turn off the main water supply to the filter.
2. Relieve Pressure: Open the water dispenser or run the ice maker cycle to relieve pressure.
3. Disconnect Old Filter: Place a bucket or towel underneath the filter to catch any residual water. Disconnect the water lines from both ends of the old filter.
4. Install New Filter: Follow steps 4.2.4 through 4.2.9 from the "Installation and Setup" section to install the new filter cartridge.
5. Dispose of Old Filter: Dispose of the old filter cartridge according to local regulations.
