3. Setup
3.1. Loading BBs
The Umarex DX17 features a convenient built-in BB reservoir that holds up to 15 BBs.
- Ensure the pistol is on 'SAFE'.
- Locate the loading port on top of the pistol, near the front sight.
- Open the loading port by tilting the front barrel section upwards.
- Carefully pour .177 caliber steel BBs into the reservoir until it is full (approximately 15 BBs).
- Close the loading port securely.
3.2. Cocking the Pistol
The DX17 utilizes a spring-powered pull-back mechanism for each shot.
- Grip the pistol firmly with one hand.
- With your other hand, grasp the rear of the slide and pull it firmly all the way back until it locks into place.
- Release the slide, allowing it to return forward. The pistol is now cocked and ready to fire (when the safety is off).

The Umarex DX17 is a single-shot air pistol, requiring cocking before each shot.
- Ensure the pistol is loaded with BBs and cocked as described in Section 3.
