3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

The thermometer comes with a nonstandard battery pre-installed. If the battery needs replacement, follow these steps:

  1. Gently slide the battery cover off the back of the thermometer.
  2. Remove the old battery and insert a new one, ensuring the correct polarity (+/-).
  3. Replace the battery cover securely.

Note: Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.

3.2 Selecting Temperature Unit (°C / °F)

To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F):

  • With the thermometer off, press and hold the power button for approximately 3 seconds until the unit changes.
  • Release the button. The selected unit will be saved for future measurements.

4. Operation

4.1 Taking a Temperature Reading

Press the power button to turn on the thermometer. It will display the last reading, then 'Lo' with a flashing °C or °F, indicating it is ready for measurement.

Oral Use:

  • Place the tip of the thermometer under the tongue, as close to the heat pocket as possible.
  • Close the mouth and hold the thermometer in place.
  • Wait for the audible beep, indicating the measurement is complete (approx. 5 seconds).

Rectal Use:

  • Apply a water-soluble lubricant to the tip of the thermometer.
  • Gently insert the tip into the rectum (approximately 1/2 inch for infants, 1 inch for adults).
  • Wait for the audible beep, indicating the measurement is complete (approx. 5 seconds).

Axillary (Underarm) Use:

  • Place the tip of the thermometer in the armpit, ensuring good skin contact.
  • Hold the arm firmly against the body to keep the thermometer in place.
  • Wait for the audible beep, indicating the measurement is complete (this method may take longer than oral or rectal).

4.2 Memory Recall

When the thermometer is turned on, it will briefly display the last measured temperature before showing 'Lo'. This is the memory recall function.

4.3 Auto Shut-off

The thermometer will automatically shut off after approximately 10 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.

5. Cleaning and Care

5.1 Cleaning and Disinfection

The thermometer is waterproof and features an antimicrobial tip for easy cleaning.

  • After each use, clean the thermometer tip with a soft cloth and isopropyl alcohol (70% ethanol) or cold soapy water.
  • Wipe the entire thermometer body with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Do not immerse the entire thermometer in water for extended periods.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as these may damage the device.

5.2 Storage

Store the thermometer in its protective case in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
