Important Note: This flash supports TTL (Through-The-Lens) metering but does NOT support High-Speed Sync (HSS). To ensure proper flash synchronization, we recommend using a shutter speed of 1/160s or slower.

3. What's in the Box

Verify that all the following items are included in your package:

4. Setup

4.1 Charging the Battery

The Godox IT20S features a built-in lithium battery. Before first use, or when the battery indicator shows low power, charge the device using the provided USB-C cable.

  1. Connect the USB-C end of the charging cable to the USB-C port on the flash unit.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB-C cable to a compatible USB power adapter (e.g., phone charger, computer USB port).
  3. The battery indicator on the flash display will show charging status. A full charge typically takes about an hour.

4.2 Attaching to Camera

The IT20S is designed to mount onto your camera's hot shoe.

  1. Ensure your camera is turned off.
  2. Slide the mounting foot of the IT20S into your camera's hot shoe slot.
  3. Gently push forward until it clicks securely into place.
  4. To remove, press the release button (if present on your camera's hot shoe) and slide the flash backward.

Tip: For Sony cameras, if you use a wide-angle lens, you may need a TTL hot shoe riser (sold separately) to raise the hot shoe height and prevent lens shadow.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

  • To power on, press and hold the power button (usually marked with a power symbol) until the display lights up.
  • To power off, press and hold the power button again until the display turns off.

5.2 Mode Switching (TTL/Manual)

The IT20S supports both TTL (Through-The-Lens) and Manual flash modes.

  • Press the dedicated 'M/TTL' button to toggle between TTL and Manual modes.
  • In TTL mode, the flash automatically adjusts its output based on the camera's metering for balanced exposure.
  • In Manual mode, you have full control over the flash power output.

5.3 Power Control (Manual Mode)

In Manual mode, you can precisely control the flash output.

  • Use the '+' and '-' buttons to adjust the flash power.
  • The power can be adjusted across 6 stops, from 1/32 to 1/1, in precise +1/3-step increments.
  • The high-definition display will show the current power setting.

5.4 Using Magnetic Accessories

The Godox IT20S comes with magnetic accessories (spreader and color filters) that attach easily to the front of the flash.

  • Simply align the magnetic accessory with the front of the flash unit.
  • The magnets will securely hold the accessory in place.
  • Use the spreader to soften and diffuse the light for a more natural look.
  • Use the color filters to add creative color effects to your lighting.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the flash unit. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive materials.
  • Storage: Store the flash in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the provided storage bag for protection.
  • Battery Care: For optimal battery life, avoid fully discharging the battery frequently. Charge the unit regularly, even if not in use, to maintain battery health.
  • Handle with Care: The flash contains delicate electronic components. Avoid dropping or subjecting it to strong impacts.
