4. Product Overview

4.1. Front Panel

The front panel of the KVM switch features the following components:

  • HDMI IN 1-4: HDMI input ports for connecting up to four source devices (PCs, laptops, etc.).
  • PC1-PC4 (USB-C): USB-C data input ports for connecting to the USB ports of your source devices to enable keyboard and mouse sharing.
  • OUTPUT (HDMI): HDMI output port for connecting to your display monitor.
  • DV 5V: Power input port for connecting the included power adapter.
  • Switch Button: Cycles through the connected HDMI inputs (1-4).
  • Mode Button: Cycles through the different multi-viewer display modes.
  • Audio Button: Cycles through audio sources in multi-viewer mode.

The rear panel provides the following connections:

  • USB Ports (4x USB-A): These ports are for connecting USB peripherals. The two leftmost ports are general purpose for devices like printers or U-disks. The two rightmost ports are specifically for connecting your keyboard and mouse.
  • IR Receiver: For receiving signals from the included IR remote control.
  • Power LED: Indicates the power status of the device.

5. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your PERESAL 4x1 HDMI KVM Switch:

  1. Power Off Devices: Ensure all computers and the monitor are powered off before making connections.
  2. Connect Monitor: Connect your HDMI display monitor to the OUTPUT HDMI port on the KVM switch.
  3. Connect Computers (HDMI): Connect the HDMI output of each computer (up to 4) to the HDMI IN 1-4 ports on the KVM switch.
  4. Connect Computers (USB): Use the provided USB 3.0 cables (Type-C to USB-A) to connect the USB-C ports (PC1-PC4) on the KVM switch to the USB-A ports on your respective computers. These connections enable keyboard and mouse sharing.
  5. Connect Keyboard & Mouse: Connect your USB keyboard and mouse to the dedicated USB-A ports on the rear panel of the KVM switch (typically the two rightmost ports).
  6. Connect Other USB Peripherals: If desired, connect other USB devices (e.g., printer, USB drive) to the general-purpose USB-A ports on the rear panel (the two leftmost ports).
  7. Connect Power Adapter: Connect the included 5V power adapter to the DV 5V port on the KVM switch, then plug it into a power outlet.
  8. Power On Devices: Power on the KVM switch, then power on your monitor and connected computers.

6. Operation

6.1. Switching Inputs

You can switch between connected computers using the following methods:

  • Front Panel Button: Press the "Switch" button on the front panel to cycle through inputs 1-4.
  • IR Remote Control: Use the numbered buttons (1, 2, 3, 4) on the remote control to directly select the desired input.
  • Hotkeys:
    • Press Scroll Lock + Scroll Lock + [1-4] to switch to the corresponding input.
    • Press Scroll Lock + Scroll Lock + Up Arrow / Down Arrow to switch to the next/previous input.

6.2. Multi-Viewer Modes

The KVM switch supports various multi-viewer display modes. You can cycle through these modes using the "Mode" button on the front panel or the remote control.

Common modes include:

  • Full Screen Mode: Displays a single selected input across the entire screen.
  • PIP (Picture-in-Picture): Displays one main input with a smaller window of another input.
  • Dual Screen Mode: Divides the screen into two sections, displaying two inputs side-by-side (horizontal or vertical).
  • Trisection Mode: Divides the screen into three sections, displaying three inputs.
  • 4 Equal Screen Mode: Divides the screen into four equal quadrants, displaying all four inputs simultaneously. This mode supports mouse crossing and roaming.

6.3. Mouse Crossing & Roaming

In 4 Equal Screen Mode, the KVM switch allows your mouse cursor to seamlessly move between the four displayed screens. Simply move your mouse to the edge of one screen, and it will appear on the adjacent screen, automatically switching keyboard and mouse control to that corresponding computer.

6.4. Audio Control

In multi-viewer modes, you can control which input's audio is outputted:

  • Press the "Audio" button on the front panel or remote to cycle through the audio sources of the displayed inputs.
  • Hotkey: Press Scroll Lock + Scroll Lock + F11 to mute/unmute audio.

6.5. Remote Control

The included IR remote control provides convenient access to all functions. Ensure there is a clear line of sight between the remote and the KVM switch's IR receiver.

Note: The remote control requires batteries (not included, typically AAA). Please insert them correctly according to polarity markings.

7. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your KVM switch, follow these maintenance guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols, as they may damage the unit.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the KVM switch is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Do not block the ventilation openings.
  • Power: Always use the provided power adapter. Disconnect power during electrical storms or when unused for long periods.
  • Handling: Avoid dropping or subjecting the device to strong impacts. The alloy housing is durable but can be damaged by excessive force.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your KVM switch, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Keyboard/mouse connected to incorrect USB port.
  • Incompatible keyboard/mouse.
  • Computer in sleep mode.
  • Check and re-secure all USB cables, especially the USB-C data cables from computers to KVM.
  • Ensure keyboard and mouse are connected to the dedicated USB-A ports on the rear panel.
  • Some specific keyboard/mouse models (e.g., certain Dell keyboards) may have compatibility issues. Try a different brand/model if possible.
  • Wake up the computer from sleep mode by directly interacting with it or using the hotkey Scroll Lock + Scroll Lock + 0 to activate keyboard/mouse on all screens, then press a key.
Mouse roaming not working in 4-screen mode.
  • Not in 4 Equal Screen Mode.
  • Incompatible mouse.
  • Ensure the KVM switch is set to the 4 Equal Screen Mode.
  • Try a different mouse model. Some mice may not fully support the roaming feature.
Remote control not responding.
  • No line of sight to IR receiver.
  • Dead or incorrectly inserted batteries.
  • Ensure the remote is pointed directly at the IR receiver on the KVM switch.
  • Replace batteries with new ones, ensuring correct polarity.
