5. Installation
Follow these steps to properly install the replacement brush head onto your SKIL Power Scrubber (PB5100D).
- Prepare the Power Scrubber: Ensure the power scrubber is turned OFF and the battery pack is removed to prevent accidental startup.
- Remove Existing Brush Head (if applicable): If a brush head is already installed, locate the release mechanism (typically a button or lever) on the power scrubber near the brush head attachment point. Press or activate the mechanism and gently pull the old brush head away from the scrubber.
- Align the New Brush Head: Take the SKIL SBH1001 Medium Bristle Long Replacement Brush Head. Align the central attachment point on the back of the brush head with the corresponding receiver on the power scrubber. Ensure the brush head is oriented correctly, with the bristles facing downwards when the scrubber is in its operating position.
- Attach the Brush Head: Push the new brush head firmly onto the power scrubber until it clicks securely into place. A distinct click indicates that the brush head is properly locked. Gently tug on the brush head to confirm it is securely attached and does not wobble.
- Reinstall Battery: Once the brush head is securely installed, reinsert the battery pack into the power scrubber.

6. Operation
Once the brush head is installed, the power scrubber is ready for use. Refer to your SKIL 12V/20V Power Scrubber (PB5100D) manual for detailed operating instructions.
- Ensure the work area is clear of obstructions and that you have a stable footing.
- Apply appropriate cleaning solution to the surface if required.
- Turn on the power scrubber and guide the brush head over the surface to be cleaned. The counter-rotating brushes will effectively scrub the surface.
- Apply light, even pressure. Avoid excessive force, as this can reduce cleaning effectiveness and potentially damage the brush head or surface.
- After cleaning, turn off the power scrubber and remove the battery.
7. Maintenance
Proper maintenance extends the life of your brush head and ensures consistent cleaning performance.
- Cleaning: After each use, remove the brush head from the power scrubber. Rinse the bristles thoroughly with clean water to remove dirt, debris, and cleaning solution residue.
- Drying: Allow the brush head to air dry completely before storing. Do not store while wet, as this can lead to mildew or damage to the bristles.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect the bristles for wear, bending, or damage. Over time, bristles will wear down, reducing cleaning effectiveness.
- Storage: Store the brush head in a clean, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Replacement: Replace the brush head when bristles show significant wear, are severely bent, or if cleaning performance diminishes.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your brush head, consider the following:
- Poor Cleaning Performance:
- Check if bristles are worn down. If so, replace the brush head.
- Ensure the correct cleaning solution is being used for the surface and type of dirt.
- Verify the brush head is securely attached to the power scrubber.
- Brush Head Wobbles or Detaches:
- Ensure the brush head is fully engaged and clicked into the power scrubber's attachment mechanism.
- Inspect the attachment point on both the brush head and the power scrubber for damage. If damaged, replacement may be necessary.
- Excessive Noise or Vibration:
- Check for debris caught in the bristles or the rotating mechanism. Clean thoroughly.
- Inspect the brush head for any cracks or damage.
