Setup Instructions
Your Shinic FW449-15 heater comes mostly pre-assembled. Follow these steps to prepare it for use:
- Carefully remove the heater and all packaging materials from the box.
- Ensure the tubular stand is securely attached to the main unit. If not, align the stand with the mounting points on the heater and secure it using the provided fasteners.
- Place the heater on a firm, level surface, ensuring it is at least 3 feet (0.9 m) away from any walls, furniture, or other combustible materials.
- Verify that the power cord is free from damage and kinks.
Operating Instructions
To operate your Shinic FW449-15 Portable Electric Space Heater:
- Plug In: Insert the power plug directly into a 120V A.C., 60Hz wall outlet. Do not use extension cords or power strips. The red POWER indicator light will illuminate.
- Set Thermostat: Rotate the Thermostat Knob clockwise to the MAX position. This ensures the heater will operate continuously until the desired room temperature is reached.
- Select Heat Setting: Rotate the Heat Settings Knob to your desired mode:
- FAN: Activates the fan for natural air circulation without heat.
- LOW (750W): Provides 750 watts of heat output.
- HIGH (1500W): Provides 1500 watts of heat output for faster and hotter heating.
- Adjust Thermostat for Desired Temperature: Once the room reaches a comfortable temperature, slowly rotate the Thermostat Knob counter-clockwise until the heater turns off. The heater will now cycle on and off automatically to maintain this set temperature.
- Adjust Heating Angle: Use the adjustable tilt head to direct the heat flow to the desired area.
- Turn Off: To turn off the heater, rotate the Heat Settings Knob to the OFF position and unplug the unit from the wall outlet.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and safe operation of your heater:
- Cleaning: Always unplug the heater before cleaning. Use a soft, damp cloth to wipe the exterior surfaces. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure no water enters the interior of the heater.
- Storage: When not in use, store the heater in a cool, dry place. It is recommended to store it in its original packaging to protect it from dust and damage.
- Cord Inspection: Periodically inspect the power cord and plug for any signs of damage. If damaged, do not use the heater and contact customer service.
Troubleshooting
If your heater is not operating correctly, consult the following common issues:
- Heater does not turn on:
- Ensure the power cord is securely plugged into a working 120V outlet.
- Check if the Heat Settings Knob is set to FAN, LOW, or HIGH, not OFF.
- Verify the Thermostat Knob is set to a higher temperature than the current room temperature, or to MAX.
- Check your household circuit breaker or fuse box.
- Heater turns off unexpectedly:
- The overheat protection may have activated. Unplug the heater, allow it to cool down for 10-15 minutes, and ensure there are no obstructions blocking the air intake or exhaust vents.
- The room temperature may have reached the thermostat setting. Adjust the thermostat to a higher setting if more heat is desired.
- Reduced heat output:
- Ensure the heater is set to HIGH (1500W) for maximum heat.
- Check for any obstructions around the heater that might be impeding airflow.
If problems persist, contact Shinic customer service for assistance.
