1. Introduction

The EFUZCOCI GD151A Digital Sound Level Meter is designed for measuring environmental sound levels. This device is suitable for various applications including workshops, schools, residences, offices, traffic areas, and audio environments. It is also useful for noise engineering, product quality control, and health prevention. In addition to sound level measurement, the GD151A can measure ambient temperature and humidity.

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Slide or unclip the cover to open the compartment.
  3. Insert three (3) AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+ and -). Batteries are not included.
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover securely.

5.2 Powering On/Off

  • To power on the device, press the Power button () located on the front panel.
  • To power off the device, press and hold the Power button until the display turns off.
  • The device features an automatic power-off function after 10 minutes of inactivity to save battery life.

6. Operation

6.1 Basic Sound Level Measurement

  1. Ensure batteries are installed and power on the device.
  2. Hold the meter with the microphone pointed towards the sound source.
  3. The current sound level in dBA will be displayed on the screen. Ambient temperature and humidity will also be shown.

6.2 Fast/Slow Time Weighting

The GD151A offers two time weighting modes to suit different measurement needs:

  • Press the F/S button to toggle between FAST (125ms response time) and SLOW (1 second response time).
  • FAST: Suitable for measuring rapidly changing noise levels, such as impulsive sounds.
  • SLOW: Ideal for measuring stable or slowly changing noise levels, providing an average reading.

6.3 A-Weighting

The GD151A model exclusively uses A-weighting. This weighting curve is designed to approximate the human ear's response to sound, making it suitable for general environmental noise measurements.

6.4 Temperature Unit Selection

  • Press the °C/°F button to switch the temperature display between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F).

6.5 Data Hold Function

  • Press the H/* button to activate the Data Hold function. The current reading will be frozen on the display.
  • Press the H/* button again to release the Data Hold and resume live measurements.

6.6 Max/Min Function

  • Press the MAX MIN button once to display the maximum measured value since the function was activated.
  • Press the MAX MIN button again to display the minimum measured value.
  • Press the MAX MIN button a third time to exit the Max/Min mode and return to live measurement.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as they may damage the casing or display.
  • Keep the microphone free from dust and debris. The windproof sponge can be gently cleaned or replaced if necessary.

7.2 Battery Replacement

  • When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace all three AAA batteries promptly.
  • Refer to Section 5.1 for battery installation instructions.
  • Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.

7.3 Storage

  • When not in use for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
  • Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Use the provided storage bag to protect the meter from dust and physical damage.
