1. Introduction

This user manual provides comprehensive instructions for the Pernhcum X99 Motherboard Set Kit, which includes an X99 Motherboard, an LGA2011-3 Xeon E5 2630 V4 CPU, and DDR4 16GB REG ECC Memory. This guide will assist you through the installation, operation, and maintenance of your new hardware, ensuring optimal performance and longevity.

2. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps carefully to install your motherboard and components.

2.1 Component Identification

2.2 CPU Installation

1. Carefully open the CPU socket retention arm on the LGA2011-3 socket.
2. Align the Intel Xeon E5 2630 V4 CPU with the socket, ensuring the gold triangle on the CPU matches the triangle on the socket.
3. Gently place the CPU into the socket. Do not force it.
4. Close the retention arm to secure the CPU.
5. Apply a thin, even layer of thermal paste to the CPU's integrated heat spreader (IHS).
6. Install the CPU cooler according to its manufacturer's instructions.

2.3 RAM Installation

The X99 motherboard features four DDR4 memory slots. Pay close attention to the installation priority for optimal performance.

• ALL RAM needs to be installed in the grey slots (slot #1 and slot #4) first.
• For 1 RAM module: Install in slot #1 or #4 (grey slot).
• For 2 RAM modules: Install in slot #1 and slot #4 (grey slots).
• For 3 RAM modules: Install in slot #1, slot #4, and then slot #2 or #3.
• For 4 RAM modules: Install in all available slots.

• Press down firmly on both ends of the memory module until the clips snap into place.

• Important: This platform requires a powerful power supply. Ensure your power supply can adequately support this platform (at least a 500W branded power supply is recommended).

2.5 Other Connections

• CMOS Battery: A 2032 battery needs to be installed in the designated slot to start the computer. Without it, the system will not boot.
• Front USB: Ensure the front USB header is correctly inserted into the designated yellow pin position on the motherboard. Incorrect insertion can prevent the computer from starting.
• Storage Devices: Connect SATA drives to the SATA 2.0 ports. For NVME M.2 SSDs, insert them into the M.2 slots and secure with the provided screw.
• Front Panel Connectors: Connect the power switch, reset switch, HDD LED, and power LED cables from your case to the corresponding pins on the motherboard's front panel header. Refer to your case manual for specific pin assignments.
• PCI-E Devices: Insert your graphics card or other PCI-E expansion cards into the PCI-E X16 slot.

Once all components are installed and connected, you can power on your system.

1. Ensure all power cables are securely connected to the motherboard and components.
2. Connect your monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
3. Press the power button on your computer case.
4. The system should boot and display the BIOS/UEFI screen or proceed to the operating system if one is installed.
5. To enter the BIOS/UEFI setup, typically press the DEL or F2 key during startup.
