5. Operating Instructions

Follow these steps for safe and effective operation of your griddle:

5.1. Initial Seasoning (Before First Use)

Seasoning the griddle plate is crucial for creating a non-stick surface and protecting it from rust. This process should be repeated several times for best results.

  1. Clean the griddle surface thoroughly with warm, soapy water and rinse completely. Dry immediately.
  2. Apply a thin, even layer of high-heat cooking oil (e.g., flaxseed, grapeseed, or vegetable oil) to the entire cooking surface.
  3. Turn on the griddle to medium-high heat. Allow the oil to burn off until it stops smoking (approximately 15-20 minutes). The surface will darken.
  4. Turn off the griddle and let it cool.
  5. Repeat steps 2-4 at least 3-5 times. The more layers of seasoning, the better the non-stick properties and protection.

5.2. Lighting Instructions

  4. Push and turn the burn control knob counter-clockwise to the "⚡" (LIGHT) position.
  5. If ignition does not occur within 5 seconds, turn the valve to "O" (OFF), wait 5 minutes, and repeat lighting instructions.
  6. Follow match lighting instructions if necessary.

5.3. Temperature Control

Your KingChii griddle features two independently controlled burners, allowing you to create different heat zones for cooking various foods simultaneously. Adjust the control knobs to achieve your desired temperature. Turn clockwise for lower heat and counter-clockwise for higher heat.

6. Maintenance and Cleaning

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your griddle.

6.1. After Each Use

Three steps for cleaning a griddle: 1. Use a spatula to scrape off food debris. 2. Wipe with a clean cloth or paper towel. 3. Coat with a thin layer of oil before putting it away.

Figure 5: Step-by-step guide for easy griddle cleaning.

  1. Scrape: While the griddle is still warm, use a metal spatula or scraper to push food debris and excess grease into the rear grease trap.
  2. Empty Grease Trap: Once cooled, remove and empty the rear grease trap. Clean it with warm, soapy water.
  3. Wipe: Wipe the griddle surface with a clean cloth or paper towel. For stubborn residue, you may add a small amount of water to the warm griddle and scrape again.
  4. Re-season (Optional, but Recommended): Apply a very thin layer of cooking oil to the griddle surface to maintain seasoning and prevent rust, especially if storing for an extended period.

6.2. General Care

  • Clean the exterior surfaces with mild soap and water. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
  • Store the griddle in a dry, protected area when not in use.
  • Regularly inspect the gas hose and connections for any signs of wear, cuts, or damage. Replace if necessary.
