1. Introduction

2. Safety Instructions

• Read all instructions before operating the appliance.

4. Setup and Initial Cleaning

Before first use, or after extended periods of non-use, it is recommended to perform an initial cleaning cycle.

Initial Cleaning Steps:

1. Unpack: Carefully remove all packaging materials and ensure all parts are present and undamaged.
2. Remove Drain Plug: Locate and remove the red drain plug from the bottom of the water tank.
3. Reinstall Water Tank: Place the water tank back onto the coffee maker.
4. Fill Water Tank: Pour clean water into the water tank, ensuring the water level is between the MIN (15oz) and MAX (40oz) marks. Do not overfill.
5. Secure Water Tank Cover: Carefully place the water tank cover, ensuring it does not fall into the water.
6. Power On: Plug the machine into a power outlet. The ON/OFF button will illuminate.
7. Place Container: Place an empty container (at least 14oz capacity) on the drip tray.
8. Start Cleaning Cycle: Press the ON/OFF button to turn on the machine. Select the 14oz brew size. Then, press the BREW button. The brew indicator will flash slowly as the machine heats up and dispenses hot water.
9. Repeat: Discard the hot water and repeat the cleaning cycle with fresh water until the entire water tank is empty.
10. Unplug: Once complete, turn off and unplug the machine.

5. Operating Instructions

Your Havato coffee maker offers two brewing methods: K-Cup pods and ground coffee.

5.1. Brewing with K-Cup Pods

1. Fill Water Tank: Ensure the water tank is filled with fresh water between the MIN and MAX marks.
2. Insert K-Cup: Open the top lid of the coffee maker. Place a K-Cup pod into the capsule holder. Ensure the pod is seated correctly and the needle punctures the capsule.
3. Close Lid: Close the top lid firmly.
4. Place Mug: Place your coffee mug on the drip tray.
5. Power On: Press the ON/OFF button to power on the machine.
6. Select Brew Size: Press the SIZE button repeatedly to cycle through the available brew sizes (6oz, 8oz, 10oz, 12oz, 14oz) until your desired size is selected.
7. Start Brewing: Press the BREW button. The brew indicator will flash as the coffee maker heats and brews. You can press the BREW button anytime to stop brewing.
8. Enjoy: Once brewing is complete, carefully remove your mug.

5.2. Brewing with Ground Coffee

1. Fill Water Tank: Ensure the water tank is filled with fresh water between the MIN and MAX marks.
2. Prepare Ground Coffee: Open the top lid of the coffee maker. Fill the reusable ground coffee holder with your desired amount of ground coffee, ensuring it does not exceed the MAX fill line.
3. Insert Ground Coffee Holder: Place the filled ground coffee holder into the holder compartment.
4. Close Lid: Close the top lid firmly.
5. Place Mug: Place your coffee mug on the drip tray.
6. Power On: Press the ON/OFF button to power on the machine.
7. Select Brew Size: Press the SIZE button repeatedly to cycle through the available brew sizes (6oz, 8oz, 10oz, 12oz, 14oz) until your desired size is selected.

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure optimal performance and longevity of your coffee maker.

6.1. Daily Cleaning

• Empty and Rinse: After each use, discard the used K-Cup pod or ground coffee. Remove and rinse the capsule/ground coffee holder, drip tray, and water tank with warm, soapy water.
• Wipe Exterior: Wipe the exterior of the coffee maker with a damp cloth.
• Dry Thoroughly: Ensure all parts are completely dry before reassembling.

6.2. Self-Cleaning Cycle

The coffee maker features a one-touch self-cleaning cycle for internal maintenance.

1. Empty Water Tank: Ensure the water tank is empty.
2. Fill with Clean Water: Fill the water tank with fresh, clean water up to the MAX line.
3. Place Container: Place an empty container on the drip tray.
4. Activate Self-Clean: Press and hold the BREW button for 5 seconds. The "ADD WATER/CLEAN" indicator will illuminate, and the machine will begin a cleaning cycle, dispensing hot water.
5. Repeat if Necessary: Repeat the cycle with fresh water if desired for a more thorough rinse.

6.3. Descaling

Descaling is essential to remove mineral buildup and maintain optimal performance. Perform descaling every 3-6 months, or more frequently if you have hard water.

1. Prepare Descaling Solution: Mix water and white vinegar in a 3:1 ratio (e.g., 3 parts water to 1 part white vinegar). Pour this solution into the water tank up to the MAX mark. Alternatively, use a commercial descaling agent according to its instructions.
2. Activate Descaling Mode (First Round): Place an empty container on the drip tray. Power on the machine. Long press the BREW button until the "DESCALE" indicator illuminates steadily, indicating entry into descaling mode. The machine will pump approximately 14oz of the solution, heat it, and dispense it. This round takes about 4 minutes.
3. Second Round: Discard the dispensed solution. If there is remaining descaling solution in the tank, repeat the descaling process by long-pressing the BREW button again.
4. Third Round (Rinse): After the descaling solution is completely used, clean the water tank and fill it with fresh, clean water. Long press the BREW button again to run a rinse cycle. Repeat this rinse cycle two more times (total of three rinse cycles) to ensure all descaling solution is flushed out.
5. Power Off: Once all cycles are complete and the water tank is empty, turn off and unplug the machine. Dry all parts and reassemble.
