3. Setup & Assembly

3.1 Fuel and Oil Mixture

This chainsaw uses a 2-cycle engine and requires a specific fuel-to-oil mixture. Use the provided mixing bottle to prepare the fuel.

  • Mix gasoline with 2-cycle engine oil at a ratio of 25:1 (25 parts gasoline to 1 part oil).
  • Always use fresh, unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 89 or higher.
  • Use high-quality 2-cycle engine oil specifically designed for air-cooled engines.
  • Pour the mixture into the fuel tank.
  • Fill the chain oil reservoir with appropriate chain lubricant. The automatic chain oiler system will ensure proper lubrication during operation.

3.2 Guide Bar and Chain Installation

Refer to the diagram in Section 2 for component identification. Ensure the chain is correctly oriented and tensioned according to the manufacturer's guidelines.

  • Remove the side cover and clutch cover.
  • Place the guide bar onto the studs.
  • Fit the chain around the sprocket and guide bar, ensuring the cutting edges face forward on the top of the bar.
  • Adjust chain tension so it is snug but can still be pulled freely around the guide bar by hand.
  • Replace the clutch cover and tighten the nuts securely.

4. Operation

4.1 Starting the Chainsaw

  1. Place the chainsaw on a firm, flat surface.
  2. Engage the chain brake by pushing the front hand guard forward.
  3. Push the choke knob in (if cold start) or out (if warm start).
  4. Press the primer bulb several times until fuel is visible.
  5. Pull the starter handle firmly and quickly until the engine fires (usually 1-3 pulls).
  6. Once the engine fires, push the choke knob back to the run position.
  7. Pull the starter handle again until the engine starts and runs smoothly.
  8. Disengage the chain brake by pulling the front hand guard back.

4.2 Cutting Techniques

Always maintain a balanced stance and firm grip. Plan your cuts to avoid kickback and ensure the log is stable.

  • Felling: For felling trees, ensure the area is clear and plan the fall direction. Make a notch cut on the side of the desired fall, then a felling cut from the opposite side.
  • Limbing: Remove branches from a fallen tree. Start from the base of the tree and work towards the top, cutting smaller branches first.
  • Bucking: Cutting a fallen log into shorter sections. Support the log to prevent pinching the saw blade.
