Setup and Installation

Before beginning installation, ensure the power to the furniture is completely disconnected.

  1. Disconnect Power: Unplug the recliner or lift chair from the wall outlet.
  2. Access Existing Motor: Carefully turn the furniture over or access the underside to locate the existing motor actuator.
  3. Disconnect Wiring: Disconnect the power transformer connection (typically a 2-pin flat round connector) and the hand control plug connection (typically a 5-pin connector) from the old motor.
  4. Remove Old Motor: Detach the old motor from its mounting points. This usually involves removing clevis pins or bolts. Keep these for reuse if they are in good condition, or use the new ones provided with the replacement motor.
  5. Install New Motor: Position the new Fruhdi R811A02380183 actuator in the same location as the old one. Secure it using the appropriate clevis pins or bolts. Ensure it is firmly attached and aligned.
  6. Connect Wiring:
    • Connect the 2-pin flat round power transformer connection to the new motor.
    • Connect the 5-pin hand control plug connection to the new motor.

  7. Test Functionality: Once all connections are secure, plug the furniture back into the wall outlet. Carefully test the recliner's functions using the hand control.
  8. Final Inspection: Ensure there are no obstructions to the motor's movement and that all wiring is safely routed and not pinched.

Operation

The Fruhdi R811A02380183 motor actuator operates in conjunction with your recliner's existing hand control unit. Refer to your furniture's original instruction manual for specific operating procedures of the hand control.

  • Reclining: Press and hold the appropriate button on your hand control to extend the footrest and recline the backrest.
  • Returning to Upright: Press and hold the opposite button to retract the footrest and return the backrest to the upright position.
  • Stopping Movement: Release the button at any desired position to stop the motor's movement.

Note: The motor has a duty cycle of 1 minute ON / 8 minutes OFF. Avoid continuous operation for extended periods to prevent overheating.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and smooth operation of your recliner motor actuator.

  • Cleaning: Keep the motor and surrounding areas free from dust and debris. Use a dry cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners directly on the motor.
  • Lubrication: The motor is generally maintenance-free regarding internal lubrication. However, periodically check the pivot points and moving parts of the recliner mechanism itself and lubricate them according to your furniture manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Cable Inspection: Periodically inspect all power and control cables for signs of wear, fraying, or damage. Replace any damaged cables immediately.
  • Mounting Hardware: Check that all mounting bolts and pins are secure. Tighten if necessary.
