2. Safety Information

5. Setup

5.1 Battery Installation

The adapter requires batteries for operation. Use the included screwdriver to open the battery compartment, insert the required batteries (typically AAA, refer to the compartment for exact type and polarity), and then securely close the compartment.

5.2 Attaching to a Ratchet Wrench

To use the digital torque adapter, attach it to a standard ratchet wrench. The adapter has a 1/2" drive. If your application requires a different drive size, use the included 1/4" or 3/8" adapters.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Basic Operation

  • Power On/Off: Short press the C button to power on. Long press the C button to power off.
  • Mode Selection: Press the P/T button to switch between Peak mode (P) and Tracking mode (T).
  • Unit Conversion: Press the U button to cycle through the available torque units: Nm, ft-lb, in-lb, kg-cm, kg-m.

6.2 Presetting Torque Values (P1-P9)

  1. With the device powered on, use the Up / Down buttons to select a preset memory slot (P1-P9).
  2. Press the M button to confirm the selected preset slot.
  3. Use the Up / Down buttons to adjust the desired torque value.
  4. Press the M button again to confirm and save the new preset value.

6.3 Memory Function (Saving and Viewing Data)

  • Saving Data: During operation, press the M button to save the current torque value. The device can store up to 500 values.
  • Viewing Memory: Long press the M button to enter memory review mode. Use the Up / Down buttons to navigate through stored values.
  • Deleting Memory: While in memory review mode, press the U button to choose between deleting all entries or individual entries. Press M to confirm the deletion.

6.4 Torque Direction and Multi-Unit Conversion

The adapter accurately measures torque in both clockwise and counter-clockwise directions. The large color LCD screen displays real-time torque values. You can switch between 5 units: Nm, ft-lb, in-lb, kg-cm, and kg-m, to suit various measurement standards.

6.5 Dual Alarm System and Display Modes

The adapter features a dual alarm system to prevent over-tightening:

  • At 80% of the set target torque, a green light illuminates, accompanied by an intermittent beep.
  • At 90% of the set target torque, a yellow light illuminates, accompanied by an intermittent beep.
  • Upon reaching or exceeding the target torque, a red light flashes, and a constant buzzer sounds.

The device offers two display modes:

  • Track Mode (T): Displays the real-time torque value as force is applied.
  • Peak Mode (P): Captures and displays the maximum torque value achieved during the application.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Cleaning

Wipe the adapter with a clean, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the display or housing.

7.3 Battery Replacement

When the battery level indicator shows low power, replace the batteries promptly to ensure accurate readings. Follow the battery installation steps in Section 5.1.

8. Troubleshooting

  • Display Not Working: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
  • Inaccurate Readings: Ensure the adapter is properly seated on the ratchet and the fastener. Avoid applying force at an angle. If issues persist, the device may require recalibration by a professional.
  • No Alarm Sound: Check if the device is in a mode that supports audible alarms. Ensure the battery level is sufficient.
