Please read this manual thoroughly before using the device to ensure proper function and to maximize your treasure hunting experience. The MD810 is designed for professional depth searching and treasure detecting, featuring multiple operation modes and a waterproof search coil.

Safety Information

  • Always obtain permission before searching on private property.
  • Avoid searching in areas where underground utilities (cables, pipes) may be present.
  • Exercise caution when digging to prevent injury or damage to property.
  • The control box is not waterproof. Protect it from moisture and rain.
  • Keep batteries out of reach of children. Dispose of used batteries responsibly.
  • Do not attempt to modify the detector, as this may void the warranty and cause damage.

  • Control Unit: Houses the LCD display, control buttons, and battery compartment.
  • Search Coil: The waterproof detection coil that scans the ground for metal objects.
  • Adjustable Stem: Allows for length adjustment to suit different user heights.
  • Armrest: Provides support and comfort during extended use.
  • Detector Stand: Helps prevent damage when placing the detector on the ground.

Setup and Assembly

  1. Attach the Search Coil: Connect the search coil to the lower stem using the provided bolt and nut. Ensure it is securely fastened but allows for slight angle adjustment.
  2. Assemble the Stem: Connect the lower stem to the upper stem. Insert the control unit onto the upper stem and secure it.
  3. Install Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the control unit. Insert two 9V 6F22 alkaline batteries, observing the correct polarity. Close the compartment securely.
  4. Adjust Length: Adjust the length of the stem to a comfortable height, typically where the search coil is parallel to the ground when you stand upright. The adjustable rod ranges from 26" to 38.6" (total length 40" to 51").
  5. Connect Coil Cable: Wrap the search coil cable around the stem and plug the connector into the corresponding port on the control unit. Ensure the connection is firm.
  6. Secure Armrest: Adjust the armrest for comfort and secure it with the strap.

Operating Instructions

Power On/Off

Press the POWER button on the control unit to turn the detector on or off. The unit will emit a prompt tone every ten minutes when powered on.

LCD Display Overview

Figure 4: MD810 LCD Control Panel and its indicators.

The backlit LCD screen displays critical information:

  • Target ID: Indicates the probable type of metal detected (Ferrous, Non-Ferrous, Gold, etc.).
  • Depth Indication: Shows estimated depth of the target (2", 4", 6", 8" and+).
  • Operating Mode: Displays the currently selected detection mode.
  • Sensitivity Level: Indicates the current sensitivity setting (5 grades).
  • Battery Level: Shows remaining battery power (4 grades).
  • Signal Strength: Visual indication of target signal strength (5 grades).

Operation Modes

Press the MODE button to cycle through the 5 distinct operation modes:

  • All-Metal Mode: Detects all types of metal without discrimination. Ideal for general searching or when the target metal type is unknown.
  • Discrimination (DISC) Mode: Allows you to eliminate unwanted metals from detection. The detector will ignore metals below a certain conductivity threshold.
  • Memory Mode: Stores a specific target ID and only detects that type of metal.
  • Jewelry Mode: Optimized for finding small precious metals like rings, earrings, and other jewelry.
  • Pinpoint (PP) Mode (Non-motion): Used to precisely locate the exact position of a detected target. This mode does not require the search coil to be in motion. Press the PP button to activate.

Sensitivity Adjustment

Use the SENS (Sensitivity) buttons (up/down arrows) to adjust the detection sensitivity. There are 5 grades of sensitivity. Higher sensitivity increases detection depth but may also increase false signals in mineralized ground.

Volume Control

Adjust the audio volume using the VOL (Volume) buttons. There are 3 grades of volume. The unique audio prompt emits 3 different tones for different types of metals.

Using the Waterproof Search Coil

The 10-inch search coil is IP68 waterproof, allowing for detection in shallow water, such as beaches, streams, or ponds. Important: The control box is NOT waterproof and must be kept dry at all times.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the detector with a damp cloth after each use. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. The search coil can be rinsed with fresh water.
  • Storage: Store the detector in a dry, cool place when not in use. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
  • Battery Care: Replace batteries when the battery indicator shows low power. Use only recommended 9V 6F22 alkaline batteries.
  • Coil Protection: Avoid striking the search coil against hard objects.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No powerDead or incorrectly installed batteries.Replace batteries with fresh 9V 6F22 alkaline batteries. Check polarity.
Erratic signals / False signalsHigh sensitivity setting; highly mineralized ground; electrical interference; loose coil cable.Reduce sensitivity. Move to a different location. Ensure coil cable is securely connected. Avoid power lines or other electronic devices.
No detection / Low detection depthLow sensitivity setting; incorrect mode; deeply buried target.Increase sensitivity. Ensure correct operating mode is selected (e.g., All-Metal for maximum depth).
LCD display not clearLow battery; extreme temperatures.Replace batteries. Operate within recommended temperature ranges.
