10-Stage Charging Program

The KOBB KBS10A utilizes a sophisticated 10-stage charging process to optimize battery performance and longevity:

  1. Activation: Initiates charging for batteries with voltage above 3V.
  2. Desulfation: Applies pulse voltage to break down lead sulfate crystals, improving battery capacity.
  3. Soft Start: Gradually increases current to prevent damage to deeply discharged batteries.
  4. Bulk Charge (Constant Current): Charges the battery at maximum current until it reaches approximately 80% capacity.
  5. Absorption Charge (Constant Voltage): Charges the battery at a constant voltage, gradually reducing current until 100% capacity is reached.
  6. Analysis: Tests the battery's ability to hold a charge.
  7. Recondition: A special mode for restoring deeply discharged or sulfated batteries.
  8. Float Charge: Maintains the battery at full charge by providing a constant, low voltage.
  9. Pulse Maintenance: Applies small pulses of current to keep the battery optimized during long-term storage.
  10. Equalization: Balances cell voltages in certain battery types to maximize performance.

Charging Deeply Discharged Batteries

The KBS10A can charge batteries with voltages as low as 3V. If a battery is severely discharged, the charger may take a moment to recognize it. Ensure proper connection and select the appropriate mode. The charger will automatically initiate a soft start or recondition cycle if needed.

Maintenance

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Charger does not turn on.No AC power; Faulty outlet.Check AC power connection; Try a different outlet.
Charger not detecting battery.Poor connection; Battery voltage too low (below 3V); Incorrect mode selected.Ensure clamps are securely connected; For very low voltage batteries, ensure connections are solid and allow time for detection; Select correct mode.
Charging process is slow.Large battery capacity; Deeply discharged battery; Cold ambient temperature. This is normal for large or deeply discharged batteries. Charging speed is optimized for battery health. Ensure charger is in a suitable temperature environment.
Charger displays an error.Reverse polarity; Short circuit; Overheating.Check battery connections for correct polarity; Inspect cables for short circuits; Allow charger to cool down if it's overheating.
