4. Operating Instructions
The NEOTEC Electric Chainsaw Sharpener is designed for efficient on-saw sharpening, eliminating the need to remove the chain. This tool allows for rapid sharpening, significantly reducing maintenance time.
4.1. Selecting the Correct Bit
Use the provided measuring wrench to determine the correct file size diamond sharpening wheel for your chainsaw chain. The kit includes 5/32” (4.0mm), 3/16” (4.8mm), and 7/32” (5.5mm) bits to accommodate most chains.
4.2. Sharpening Process
- Ensure the chainsaw is securely positioned and cannot move during sharpening.
- Align the angle attachment with the desired sharpening angle (e.g., 25°, 30°, 35°). The attachment helps maintain a precise angle and depth.
- With the sharpener turned off, position the sharpening wheel against the cutting edge of a chain tooth.
- Turn on the sharpener and gently slide the rotary tool in and out against the cutting edge. One or two passes should be sufficient to sharpen the edge.
- Repeat this process for all chainsaw teeth, ensuring consistent passes on each tooth to remove a uniform amount of material.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your sharpener:
- Cleaning: After each use, clean the sharpener and bits to remove any dust or debris.
- Bit Replacement: Replace sharpening wheels when they show signs of wear to maintain sharpening effectiveness. The titanium-plated wheels are durable but are consumables.
- Carbon Brushes: The sharpener includes two spare carbon brushes. Replace them if the original brushes wear out to ensure continuous operation.
- Storage: Store the sharpener and its accessories in a dry, clean place, preferably in its original packaging, when not in use.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your sharpener, consider the following common solutions:
- Tool not turning on: Ensure the power cord is securely plugged in and the safety switch is in the 'ON' position. Check the power outlet.
- Ineffective sharpening: Verify that the correct size sharpening wheel is installed and securely tightened. Ensure the angle attachment is set to the appropriate angle for your chain.
- Sharpening wheel falling off: Ensure the collet nut is fully tightened using the provided wrench.
- Overheating: The sharpener has heat dissipation holes. Ensure they are not blocked to prevent overheating and extend usage time.
