5. Installation Guide
5.1. Before You Begin
- Tools Required: Adjustable wrench, screwdriver, sponge/towel.
- Turn off Water Supply: Locate the shut-off valve behind or near the toilet and turn it clockwise until the water flow stops.
- Flush the Toilet: Flush the toilet to empty the tank. Hold the handle down to drain as much water as possible.
- Remove Remaining Water: Use a sponge or towel to remove any residual water from the tank.
- Disconnect Water Supply Line: Unscrew the water supply line from the bottom of the fill valve.
- Remove Old Components: Unscrew the nuts holding the old fill valve and flush valve in place from underneath the tank. Carefully remove the old components.
5.2. Step-by-Step Installation
- Install the Flush Valve:
- Ensure the rubber gasket is properly seated at the base of the new flush valve.
- Insert the flush valve into the large opening at the bottom of the toilet tank.
- From underneath the tank, secure the flush valve with the provided nut. Hand-tighten first, then use a wrench for a snug fit, but do not overtighten.
- Install the Fill Valve:
- Insert the fill valve into the smaller opening at the bottom of the toilet tank.
- Secure the fill valve from underneath the tank with its retaining nut. Hand-tighten, then use a wrench for a snug fit.
- Important Note on Compatibility: The fill valve has a 0.8-inch (20.5mm) thread diameter. Please verify compatibility with your existing water supply line. Some standard American water supply lines may require an adapter or may not be compatible.
- Connect the refill tube from the fill valve to the overflow pipe of the flush valve.
- Connect Water Supply: Reconnect the water supply line to the bottom of the new fill valve. Hand-tighten, then use a wrench for a secure connection.
- Install the Push Button:
- Place the toilet tank lid back on the tank.
- Insert the dual-flush push button through the hole in the tank lid.
- Thread the retaining nut onto the push button from underneath the lid and tighten it to secure the button.
- Adjust the length of the push rods to align with the flush valve's activation points.
- Restore Water Supply and Test: Turn the water supply valve counter-clockwise to restore water flow to the toilet. Allow the tank to fill. Check for any leaks around the connections. Perform several test flushes to ensure proper operation of both full and half flush functions.

6. Operating Instructions
This kit features a dual-flush mechanism designed to conserve water. The push button has two distinct sections for different flush volumes:
- Half Flush: Press the smaller button for a reduced water flush, suitable for liquid waste.
- Full Flush: Press the larger button for a full water flush, suitable for solid waste.
The water levels for both full and half flushes can be adjusted on the flush valve to optimize water usage according to your preference and local regulations.

7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your toilet tank replacement kit.
- Cleaning: Periodically clean the components inside the tank, especially the flush valve seal and fill valve filter, to prevent mineral buildup and ensure proper sealing. Use a soft brush and mild cleaning solution.
- Leak Checks: Regularly inspect for leaks. Listen for continuous water running or check for water pooling around the base of the toilet.
- Component Inspection: Check the flush valve seal and fill valve components for wear or damage. Replace parts as necessary.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your toilet tank replacement kit, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Toilet Runs Continuously (Phantom Flush):
- Cause: Flush valve seal is not seating properly or is dirty/worn. Fill valve is not shutting off completely.
- Solution: Clean the flush valve seal and the area where it seats. Ensure no debris is obstructing it. Check the fill valve's float mechanism to ensure it moves freely and is set to the correct water level. If the fill valve is leaking internally, it may need replacement.
- Toilet Fills Slowly or Not at All:
- Cause: Water supply valve is not fully open. Fill valve filter is clogged.
- Solution: Ensure the water supply valve is fully open. Turn off water, disconnect the supply line, and clean the fill valve's inlet filter.
- Weak Flush:
- Cause: Water level in the tank is too low. Flush valve is not opening fully.
- Solution: Adjust the fill valve to increase the water level in the tank. Ensure the push button rods are correctly adjusted to fully activate the flush valve.
- Water Leaks from Connections:
- Cause: Loose connections or damaged gaskets.
- Solution: Turn off water, tighten connections (do not overtighten plastic nuts), and inspect gaskets for damage. Replace if necessary.
- Fill Valve Incompatibility with Water Supply Line:
- Cause: The fill valve's inlet thread diameter (0.8 inches) does not match the standard size of your water supply line.
- Solution: This kit's fill valve is designed with a specific thread diameter. If your existing water supply line does not fit, you may need to purchase a compatible adapter or a different water supply line. Please verify measurements before purchase.
