1. Introduction

This manual provides essential information for the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of the Generic TOB1Z-63 DC Mini Circuit Breaker. This device is designed to protect DC electrical circuits from damage caused by overcurrent, which can result from overload or short circuit. Please read this manual thoroughly before installation and use.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Electrical shock hazard. Installation and maintenance should only be performed by qualified personnel.

  • Always disconnect power to the circuit before installing or servicing the circuit breaker.
  • Ensure that the circuit breaker's voltage and current ratings match the requirements of your DC system.
  • Do not operate the circuit breaker with wet hands or in damp conditions.
  • Verify all connections are secure and properly insulated to prevent short circuits.
  • Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) during installation.

4. Setup and Installation

The TOB1Z-63 DC Mini Circuit Breaker is designed for DIN rail mounting. Follow these steps for proper installation:

  1. Power Disconnection: Ensure all power sources to the circuit are completely disconnected before beginning installation.
  2. Mounting: Attach the circuit breaker securely onto a standard 35mm DIN rail. Ensure it clicks into place firmly.
  3. Wiring: Connect the DC positive (+) and negative (-) wires to the designated terminals. The input and output terminals are typically marked. Ensure correct polarity.
  4. Terminal Tightening: Use an appropriate screwdriver to tighten the screw-type terminals. Ensure connections are snug to prevent loose contacts and overheating.
  5. Verification: Double-check all wiring for correctness and security before restoring power.

5. Operating Instructions

The operation of the TOB1Z-63 DC Mini Circuit Breaker is straightforward:

  • To Turn On: Push the blue switch lever upwards to the 'ON' position.
  • To Turn Off: Push the blue switch lever downwards to the 'OFF' position.
  • Automatic Trip: In the event of an overload or short circuit, the circuit breaker will automatically trip to the 'OFF' position, protecting the circuit.
  • Resetting: If the breaker trips, identify and resolve the fault (e.g., remove overload, fix short circuit) before attempting to reset. Once the fault is cleared, push the lever fully to the 'OFF' position, then back to 'ON'. Do not force the lever if it resists.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and reliable operation of your circuit breaker:

  • Visual Inspection: Periodically inspect the circuit breaker for any signs of physical damage, discoloration, or loose connections.
  • Cleaning: Keep the circuit breaker clean and free from dust and debris. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners.
  • Terminal Check: Occasionally check the tightness of the terminal screws to ensure secure electrical contact.
  • Environmental Conditions: Ensure the operating environment remains within the specified temperature and humidity ranges.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your circuit breaker, consider the following:

  • Breaker Trips Frequently:
    • Overload: The connected load might exceed the breaker's current rating. Reduce the load or install a breaker with a higher, appropriate rating.
    • Short Circuit: A short circuit exists in the wiring or connected device. Inspect wiring for damage or faulty insulation.
    • Faulty Device: One of the connected devices might be faulty. Disconnect devices one by one to identify the culprit.
  • Breaker Does Not Reset:
    • A persistent fault (overload or short circuit) is still present. Do not force the lever. Re-check the circuit for faults.
    • The breaker itself might be damaged. If no fault is found in the circuit, the breaker may need replacement.
  • No Power to Circuit (Breaker ON):
    • Check input power supply to the breaker.
    • Verify all terminal connections are secure and tight.
    • Test the breaker for continuity if you suspect an internal fault (only by qualified personnel).

If problems persist after troubleshooting, consult a qualified electrician.
