Adherence to these safety guidelines is crucial to prevent injury and ensure the longevity of your bunk bed.
- Maximum Weight Capacity: Each bed level (upper and lower) is designed to support a maximum weight of 200 lbs. Do not exceed this limit.
- Mattress Thickness: For the upper bunk, use a mattress with a maximum thickness of 6 inches. Ensure the top surface of the mattress is at least 5 inches below the top edge of the guardrails.
- Guardrails: The upper bunk is equipped with full-length guardrails. These must always be in place and securely fastened.
- Age Restriction: The upper bunk is not suitable for children under 6 years of age.
- Ladder Safety: Always use the integrated ladder for access to the upper bunk. Do not use chairs or other furniture. Ensure the ladder is stable before climbing.
- No Jumping: Do not allow jumping on the bed.
- Regular Checks: Periodically check all bolts and fasteners to ensure they are tight. Retighten as necessary.
- Ventilation: Ensure adequate ventilation around the bed.
- Assembly: Assembly should be performed by at least two adults.
3. Package Contents
Before beginning assembly, verify that all parts and hardware are present and undamaged. If any parts are missing or damaged, do not proceed with assembly. Contact Merax customer support immediately.

- Instruction manual (this document)
Note: A detailed parts list with quantities is usually provided on a separate sheet within the packaging. Refer to that sheet for exact component identification.
4. Setup and Assembly Instructions
Assembly requires two adults. Follow the numbered steps precisely. Do not overtighten bolts until instructed.
- Prepare the Area: Clear a spacious area for assembly. Lay out all components on a soft, clean surface to prevent scratches.

- Assemble End Panels: Attach the crossbars to the headboards and footboards to form the end panels for both the upper and lower bunks. Secure with the provided hardware.

- Ladder Use: Always use the integrated ladder to access the upper bunk. Climb and descend facing the ladder, holding onto the side rails.

6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance will keep your bunk bed in optimal condition.
- Cleaning: Wipe down the wooden surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish.
- Fastener Checks: Periodically (e.g., every 3-6 months) inspect all bolts, screws, and connections. Tighten any that have become loose. Do not overtighten.
- Wood Care: Protect the wood from extreme temperature changes and direct sunlight to prevent warping or cracking.
7. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your bunk bed, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Bed feels wobbly or unstable. | Loose fasteners. | Check and tighten all bolts and screws. Ensure all connections are secure. |
| Missing or damaged parts upon arrival. | Shipping damage or packing error. | Do not assemble. Contact Merax customer support immediately with your order details and a description/photo of the issue. |
| Difficulty aligning parts during assembly. | Parts may be slightly warped or misaligned. | Ensure you are following the assembly steps precisely. Sometimes gentle pressure or slight adjustments are needed. If parts are significantly warped, contact customer support. |
| Squeaking noises. | Loose connections or friction between wood parts. | Tighten all fasteners. If squeaking persists, a small amount of furniture wax or silicone spray at friction points may help (avoiding areas that could become slippery). |
If you experience issues not listed here or require further assistance, please contact Merax customer support.
