2. Safety Guidelines
Operating a resin 3D printer involves handling chemicals. Please read and adhere to the following safety precautions:
- Ventilation: Always operate the printer in a well-ventilated area to avoid inhaling resin fumes.
- Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear disposable nitrile gloves and safety glasses when handling liquid resin or uncured prints. Avoid direct skin contact with resin.
- Resin Handling: Store resin in its original opaque bottle, away from direct sunlight and heat. Keep out of reach of children and pets. Do not dispose of liquid resin down drains.
- Cleaning: Use isopropyl alcohol (IPA) for cleaning. Ensure proper ventilation and avoid open flames when using IPA.
- UV Light: The printer uses UV light for curing. Do not look directly into the UV light source. The orange cover blocks 99.89% of UV light, providing eye protection during operation.
- Emergency: In case of skin contact, wash thoroughly with soap and water. If resin gets into eyes, flush immediately with plenty of water and seek medical attention.

Image 4.1: The HALOT R6 is pre-assembled for an easy out-of-the-box setup.
4.1 Unpacking and Placement
- Carefully remove the printer and all accessories from the packaging.
- Place the printer on a stable, level surface in a well-ventilated area, away from direct sunlight and heat sources.
4.2 Initial Inspection
- Inspect the printer for any visible damage during shipping.
- Ensure the resin vat and build plate are clean and free of debris.
4.3 Power Connection
- Connect the power adapter to the printer and then plug it into a power outlet.
- Turn on the printer using the power switch.
4.4 Build Plate Leveling
The HALOT R6 features an excellent flatness platform. While often pre-leveled, it's good practice to verify:
- Loosen the screws on the build plate.
- Place a piece of A4 paper on the LCD screen.
- Lower the build plate until it gently presses against the paper.
- Tighten the screws on the build plate evenly. The anti-slip bolts help lock the leveling state.
- Raise the build plate.
4.5 Resin Loading
- Ensure the resin vat is clean and properly seated in the printer.
- Shake the resin bottle well before pouring.
- Carefully pour the resin into the vat, ensuring it does not exceed the maximum fill line. The dual vat spouts make pouring easier.
5. Operation
The HALOT R6 offers a simple workflow with concerted software for an intuitive printing experience.

5.1 Software Overview
The HALOT R6 utilizes two primary software platforms:
- HALOT BOX: This slicing software supports various parameter presets, allowing for one-click slicing and printing. It's designed for seamless workflow and ideal presets for the HALOT R6.
- Creality Cloud APP: This mobile application allows you to download various 3D models, perform cloud slicing, and initiate cloud printing via Wi-Fi. It also supports real-time monitoring and time-lapse photography if an optional web camera is connected.

Image 5.2: The Creality Cloud APP provides access to a vast model library and remote printing capabilities.

Image 5.3: An optional web camera can be connected via USB for real-time monitoring and time-lapse recording of prints.
5.2 Preparing a Model for Printing (Slicing)
- Open HALOT BOX software on your computer.
- Import your 3D model file (e.g., STL, OBJ).
- Adjust model orientation, size, and add supports as needed.
- Select the appropriate resin profile and print settings (layer height, exposure time, etc.).
- Slice the model. The software will generate a printable file (e.g., .cxldlpv4).
- Save the sliced file to a USB drive or send it directly to the printer via Wi-Fi if connected to Creality Cloud.
5.3 Starting a Print
- Ensure the resin vat is filled with resin and the build plate is properly installed and leveled.
- Insert the USB drive containing the sliced file into the printer's USB port.
- On the printer's touch screen, navigate to the print menu and select your desired file.
- Confirm the print settings and start the print. The build plate will descend into the resin, and the printing process will begin.
5.4 Monitoring and Pausing
- You can monitor the print progress on the printer's screen or remotely via the Creality Cloud APP if a web camera is connected.
- To pause a print, select the pause option on the touch screen. To resume, select resume.
5.5 Removing a Print
- Once the print is complete, wait for the build plate to fully ascend.
- Carefully remove the build plate from the printer.
- Use the provided metal scraper to gently detach the printed model from the build plate. Be careful not to scratch the build plate surface.
- Place the print in a container with isopropyl alcohol (IPA) for washing to remove uncured resin.
- After washing, cure the print using a UV curing station or direct sunlight until it is fully hardened and no longer tacky.
6. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your HALOT R6 printer.
6.1 Cleaning the Printer
- Build Plate: After each print, clean the build plate with IPA and a soft cloth to remove any resin residue.
- Resin Vat: If changing resin types or if there's cured resin at the bottom, carefully empty the resin vat into a separate container. Clean the vat with IPA and a soft cloth. Ensure the FEP film is not scratched.
- LCD Screen: The HALOT R6 features a tempered glass protector over the LCD screen to prevent scratches and resin leaks. If resin spills on the protector, clean it immediately with IPA and a soft cloth. Never use sharp objects to scrape the screen.
- Printer Body: Wipe down the exterior of the printer with a soft, dry cloth.
6.2 Resin Management
- Storage: Store unused resin in its original opaque bottle in a cool, dark place.
- Filtering: If resin has been in the vat for an extended period or if there are cured particles, filter the resin back into its bottle using a mesh filter or funnel before storing.
6.3 FEP Film Replacement
The FEP (Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene) film at the bottom of the resin vat is a consumable part. It may need replacement if it becomes cloudy, scratched, or punctured. Refer to online resources or Creality's official guides for detailed instructions on replacing the FEP film.

Image 6.1: Optional accessories such as water-washable resin, quality FEP release film, and wash & cure machines are available from Creality.
7. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your HALOT R6 printer.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Print fails to stick to build plate | Build plate not leveled correctly; Insufficient bottom exposure time; Cold resin; Dirty build plate. | Re-level the build plate; Increase bottom exposure time in slicer; Warm resin to room temperature; Clean build plate thoroughly with IPA. |
| Parts detach from supports | Supports too thin or too few; Insufficient exposure time. | Add more supports or increase support contact area; Increase normal exposure time. |
| Layer lines or wobbling | Loose Z-axis components; Excessive printing speed; Unstable printer placement. | Check Z-axis screws and ensure anti-backlash nut is secure; Reduce printing speed; Ensure printer is on a stable surface. The rigid Z-axis design minimizes wobbling. |
| Resin cured in vat (not on print) | Damaged LCD screen; Light leakage; Over-exposure. | Inspect LCD screen for damage; Ensure orange cover is properly seated; Reduce exposure time. |
| Printer not recognized by computer/software | Driver issue; USB cable problem; Software version. | Reinstall printer drivers; Try a different USB cable or port; Update HALOT BOX software to the latest version. |
