Setup and Installation Guide

The vertical wind turbine is designed for easy assembly. Please follow the steps below carefully. Note that a mounting rod is not included; a 48-54mm (1.89-2.13 in) mounting bar is required.

Step-by-step installation guide for the wind turbine

Image: A visual installation guide showing six steps: inventorying parts, placing the wind turbine vertically, connecting brackets with blades, fixing blades to the mounting hole, tightening bolts, and aligning the flange with the tower pole.

  1. Inventory All Parts: Verify that all components listed in the "Product Components" section are present. This includes the main shaft, 3 fan blades, 6 support brackets, hex wrenches, controller, flange, and all screw packages.
  2. Prepare for Vertical Placement: Place the main wind turbine body vertically. Ensure the bottom flange is clear to allow for output wire routing. Note that the upper cover plate of the wind turbine does not need to be tightened yet. The blades can be adjusted upwards or downwards during installation.
  3. Connect Brackets to Blades: Connect each support bracket to a fan blade using the provided bolts. Then, attach the upper cover plate and lower cover plate to the assembly.
  4. Fix Blades to Mounting Hole: Secure the blades by fixing them into the mounting hole at the end of each blade bracket. This can be done from the outside of the wind blade. Preload them slightly.
  5. Tighten All Bolts: Systematically tighten all bolts on the blades and brackets. Ensure there is no abnormal noise or jamming. Adjust the nuts (under the upper cover plate of the wind turbine) to make the upper cover plate tightly fixed.
  6. Align Flange and Secure: Align the flange hole of the wind generator with the flange hole on the tower pole. Use flat washers and spring washers, then tighten the nut securely.

For electrical connections, refer to the diagram for the Wind & Solar Hybrid System. The MPPT controller is crucial for regulating current and voltage from the turbine to the battery and inverter.

Operating Instructions

The BLBDBFY Vertical Wind Turbine is designed for efficient and quiet operation. Its low start-up wind speed (2 m/s) allows it to begin generating power even in light breezes. The integrated MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) controller optimizes power output by effectively regulating current and voltage, maximizing energy harvest from the wind.

  • Automatic Operation: Once properly installed and connected to a battery bank and inverter (if part of a hybrid system), the turbine will automatically begin generating power when wind speeds reach the cut-in speed of 3 m/s.
  • Quiet Performance: The vertical design and double bearings contribute to a quieter operation compared to horizontal turbines, making it suitable for residential areas.
  • Safety Features: The turbine is equipped with an electromagnetic brake and unloading device for overload protection, automatically braking at a safe wind speed of ≤40m/s or when the maximum rotational speed is reached.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your wind turbine. Always disconnect power before performing any maintenance.

  • Visual Inspection: Periodically inspect the blades, main shaft, and mounting structure for any signs of damage, cracks, or loose connections.
  • Blade Cleaning: Clean the blades as needed to remove dirt, dust, or debris that may accumulate and affect aerodynamic efficiency. Use a soft cloth and mild detergent.
  • Electrical Connections: Check all electrical wiring and connections for corrosion or looseness. Ensure they are secure and properly insulated.
  • Bearing Check: Listen for any unusual noises during operation, which might indicate an issue with the bearings. The magnetic levitation motor is designed for long service life (15-20 years), but regular checks are advisable.
  • Controller Inspection: Ensure the MPPT controller is free from dust and moisture. Check its indicators for normal operation.
