4. Safety Information

  • Always ensure shelves are securely mounted to a sturdy wall stud or using appropriate drywall anchors for the wall type.
  • Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of 40 lbs per shelf. Overloading can cause shelves to detach from the wall, leading to injury or damage.
  • Keep small parts and hardware away from children to prevent choking hazards.
  • Wear appropriate safety gear, such as eye protection, during installation.
  • If you are unsure about your wall type or installation process, consult a qualified professional.

5. Setup and Installation

The YGEOMER Floating Shelves are designed for straightforward installation. Follow these steps carefully:

5.1 Tools Required (Not Included, except screwdriver and level)

  • Pencil
  • Measuring Tape
  • Drill
  • Hammer (for drywall anchors)

5.2 Installation Steps

  1. Choose Location: Select a suitable wall location. Consider the desired height and spacing for your shelves.
  2. Mark Pilot Holes: Hold a bracket against the wall at your desired mounting point. Use the included level to ensure it is straight. Mark the positions for the screw holes with a pencil. Repeat for all brackets.
  3. Drill Pilot Holes:
    • For wood studs: Drill pilot holes directly into the stud at the marked points.
    • For drywall: Drill pilot holes, then gently tap the plastic drywall anchors into the holes with a hammer until flush with the wall.
  4. Attach Brackets: Align each metal triangle bracket with the drilled holes. Insert the wall screws through the bracket holes and tighten them securely into the wall or anchors using the provided screwdriver or a drill. Ensure the brackets are firm and do not wobble.
  5. Position Shelf Boards: Place a wood shelf board onto the installed brackets. The board should rest snugly on the horizontal arms of the brackets.
  6. Secure Shelf Boards (Optional but Recommended): For added stability, especially if placing heavier items, use the smaller screws to attach the shelf board to the brackets from underneath. There are pre-drilled holes on the brackets for this purpose.

7. Maintenance and Care

To keep your YGEOMER Floating Shelves in optimal condition, follow these simple care guidelines:

  • Cleaning: Wipe the shelves with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals that could damage the wood finish.
  • Dusting: Regularly dust the shelves to prevent buildup.
  • Inspection: Periodically check the mounting screws and brackets to ensure they remain tight and secure. Retighten if necessary.
  • Avoid Moisture: While suitable for bathrooms, avoid prolonged exposure to excessive moisture. Wipe up spills immediately.

8. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your YGEOMER Floating Shelves, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Shelf wobbles after installation:
    • Ensure all mounting screws are fully tightened.
    • Verify that the brackets are flush against the wall.
    • If applicable, use the smaller screws to secure the shelf board to the brackets from underneath.
    • Check if the wall surface is even. Shims may be needed for very uneven surfaces (not included).
  • Shelf detaches from the wall:
    • This indicates improper installation or overloading. Immediately remove all items from the shelf.
    • Re-evaluate your wall type and ensure appropriate anchors (drywall or stud mounting) were used.
    • Ensure the weight on the shelf does not exceed 40 lbs.
    • Reinstall the shelf following all instructions carefully.
  • Missing parts:
    • Refer to the "Package Contents" section. If parts are missing, contact YGEOMER customer support.
