1. Important Safety Information

Read all safety warnings, instructions, illustrations, and specifications provided with this power tool. Failure to follow all instructions listed below may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Always wear eye protection (safety glasses or goggles), hearing protection, and heavy-duty gloves when operating the hedge trimmer. Wear long pants and sturdy, non-slip footwear.
• Work Area Safety: Keep the work area clean and well-lit. Do not operate power tools in explosive atmospheres, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases, or dust. Keep children and bystanders away while operating a power tool.
• Electrical Safety:
  • Use only the charger specified by the manufacturer. A charger that is suitable for one type of battery pack may create a risk of fire when used with another battery pack.
  • Use power tools only with specifically designated battery packs. Use of any other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.
  • Do not expose battery pack or tool to fire or excessive temperature. Exposure to fire or temperature above 130°C (265°F) may cause explosion.
• Tool Use and Care:
  • Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application.
  • Prevent unintentional starting. Ensure the switch is in the off-position before connecting to battery pack, picking up or carrying the tool.
  • The VEVOR hedge trimmer features a double safety switch design to prevent accidental activation. Both switches must be engaged simultaneously to operate the tool.
  • Disconnect the battery pack from the power tool before making any adjustments, changing accessories, or storing power tools.
  • Maintain the hedge trimmer. Check for misalignment or binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, and any other condition that may affect the power tool’s operation.
• Blade Safety:
  • Keep hands away from cutting blades. Do not attempt to remove cut material or hold material to be cut when blades are moving.
  • Always use the blade guard when storing or transporting the hedge trimmer.

2.2 Key Features

3. Setup and Assembly

3.1 Charging the Battery

1. Ensure the battery pack is clean and dry before charging.
2. Connect the charger to a standard AC 220-240V 50Hz power outlet.
3. Insert the battery pack into the charger. The charger's indicator light will show the charging status (refer to charger manual for specific light indications).
4. Allow the battery to fully charge before first use. Charging time may vary.
5. Once fully charged, disconnect the battery from the charger and unplug the charger from the power outlet.

3.2 Attaching the Battery Pack

1. Align the battery pack with the battery slot on the handle of the hedge trimmer.
2. Slide the battery pack firmly into place until it clicks, indicating it is securely locked.
3. To remove the battery, press the release button (if present) and slide the battery out.

3.3 Adjusting the Shaft Length

The hedge trimmer features an extendable shaft for varying reach requirements.

1. Loosen the locking mechanism on the telescopic shaft.
2. Extend or retract the shaft to the desired length (between 1.9m and 2.4m).
3. Securely tighten the locking mechanism to ensure the shaft is fixed in position before operation.

3.4 Adjusting the Cutting Angle

The cutting head can be adjusted to optimize trimming for different hedge shapes and heights.

1. Locate the angle adjustment button or lever near the cutting head.
2. Press and hold the button/lever to release the locking mechanism.
3. Adjust the cutting head to one of the 5 available angles (30° to 150°).
4. Release the button/lever to lock the head securely in the desired position. Ensure it is fully locked before use.

4. Operation

4.1 Starting and Stopping the Trimmer

The VEVOR hedge trimmer is equipped with a double safety switch for safe operation.

1. Ensure the battery is fully charged and securely inserted.
2. Grip the handle firmly with both hands.
3. To start the trimmer, simultaneously press and hold both the safety lock-off button and the trigger switch. The blades will begin to move.
4. To stop the trimmer, release either the safety lock-off button or the trigger switch. The blades will stop immediately.

4.2 Trimming Techniques

Always maintain a stable footing and balance. Plan your cuts before starting.

• General Trimming: Use a sweeping motion, moving the trimmer smoothly along the hedge. For best results, cut small amounts at a time.
• High Branches: Utilize the extendable shaft and adjustable head angle to reach high areas. Stand clear of falling debris.
• Shaping: For flat tops, hold the trimmer level. For sides, use an upward sweeping motion, slightly tilting the blade towards the hedge for a clean cut.
• Maximum Cutting Capacity: The trimmer can cut branches up to 0.63 inches (1.63 cm) in diameter. Do not attempt to cut thicker branches, as this can damage the blade or motor.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your hedge trimmer. Always disconnect the battery pack before performing any maintenance.

5.1 Blade Cleaning and Lubrication

• After each use, clean the blades thoroughly to remove sap, leaves, and debris. Use a stiff brush and a damp cloth.
• Apply a light coat of machine oil or blade lubricant to the cutting blades to prevent rust and ensure smooth operation.
• Inspect the blades for any damage, dullness, or bent teeth. Damaged blades should be replaced by a qualified service technician.

5.2 Battery Care and Storage

• Store the battery pack in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
• For long-term storage, it is recommended to charge the battery to approximately 50% capacity.
• Do not store the battery pack connected to the trimmer or charger.

5.3 General Cleaning and Storage

• Wipe down the main unit and shaft with a clean, damp cloth. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
• Always attach the blade guard before storing the trimmer to prevent accidental injury and protect the blades.
• Store the hedge trimmer in a secure, dry place, out of reach of children.
