4. Operating Instructions

Once installed and wired correctly, the RCCB operates automatically to detect earth leakage currents.

• Switching On: After installation and power restoration, push the operating lever (typically orange) upwards to the "ON" position. This connects the protected circuit.
• Switching Off: To disconnect the protected circuit, push the operating lever downwards to the "OFF" position.
• Automatic Tripping: If an earth leakage current exceeding 300 mA is detected, the RCCB will automatically trip, moving the operating lever to the "OFF" position to interrupt the circuit and ensure safety.

5. Maintenance

Regular testing of the RCCB is essential to ensure its proper functioning and continued protection.

• Monthly Test: Press the "Test" button (marked 'T' or 'Test') on the front of the RCCB. The device should immediately trip, moving the operating lever to the "OFF" position. This simulates an earth leakage fault and verifies the internal mechanism.
• Resetting after Test: After a successful test, reset the RCCB by pushing the operating lever back to the "ON" position.
• Cleaning: Keep the device clean and free from dust. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

6. Troubleshooting

• RCCB Trips Frequently:
  • An earth leakage fault may exist in the protected circuit. Disconnect appliances one by one to identify the faulty device.
  • Check for damaged wiring or insulation in the circuit.
  • If the problem persists, consult a qualified electrician.
• RCCB Does Not Trip When Test Button is Pressed:
  • This indicates a malfunction of the RCCB. The device may not provide protection against earth leakage.
  • Immediately disconnect power to the circuit and replace the RCCB. Do not rely on a faulty RCCB for protection.
• RCCB Does Not Switch On:
  • Ensure there is no active earth leakage fault preventing it from resetting.
