Instruction Manual for Irrigation Pro 12 TQ Three Quarter Circle MPR Nozzles

Model: 12 TQ

Introduction

Pro-Spray fixed nozzles are engineered to provide the most reliable and accurate fixed-arc spray solution available. Renowned for their robust construction and exceptional performance, these fixed nozzles are a preferred choice for irrigation professionals. The Pro-Spray fixed nozzle configurations ensure uniform water distribution across the entire spray area, minimizing misting and maximizing coverage efficiency through optimal droplet size.

Product Features

  • 270 Degree (Three Quarter) Circle Fixed Spray Pattern MPR Nozzle: Designed for precise coverage in a three-quarter circle arc.
  • Optimized Droplet Size: Minimizes water misting and maximizes coverage, leading to improved water efficiency.
  • Pro Grey Filter Screens: Shipped with nozzles, these screens maintain precise radius adjustment and prevent clogging from debris.
  • Stainless Steel Adjustment Screw: Allows for easy and durable adjustment of flow and spray radius.
  • Universal Compatibility: Compatible with all Hunter, Orbit, Hydro-Rain, and K-Rain pop-up sprinklers and shrub adapters (female nozzle for male pop-up riser).

Package Contents

Your package should contain the following items:

  • 5 x 12 TQ Three Quarter Circle MPR Nozzles
  • 5 x Pro Grey Filter Screens (pre-installed or included separately)

Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to properly install your MPR nozzles:

  1. Turn off Water Supply: Before beginning any work on your irrigation system, ensure the main water supply to the sprinkler system is completely shut off to prevent water leakage.
  2. Remove Old Nozzle (if applicable): Gently unscrew the existing nozzle from the pop-up sprinkler riser. Be careful not to damage the riser or the threads.
  3. Inspect Riser and Filter: Check the sprinkler riser for any debris or damage. Ensure the new nozzle's filter screen is clean and properly seated. The included Pro Grey filter screens help prevent clogging.
  4. Screw in New Nozzle: Carefully screw the 12 TQ MPR nozzle onto the male threaded pop-up sprinkler riser. Hand-tighten only; do not overtighten, as this can damage the threads.
  5. Adjust Arc and Radius:
    • The 12 TQ nozzle has a fixed 270-degree (three-quarter circle) arc.
    • To adjust the spray radius, use a flat-head screwdriver to turn the stainless steel adjustment screw located at the top center of the nozzle. Turning clockwise will decrease the radius, and counter-clockwise will increase it.
  6. Test System: Slowly turn the water supply back on and observe the spray pattern. Make any final adjustments to the radius as needed to ensure optimal coverage and avoid overspray.

The 12 TQ nozzle falls under the 'Q' (Quarter) arc category, indicating its 270-degree coverage. This chart helps visualize the different nozzle types and their spray characteristics.

Operating Instructions

Once installed, the 12 TQ MPR nozzles operate automatically with your irrigation system. Ensure your sprinkler system's timer is set correctly for optimal watering schedules.

  • Water Pressure: Ensure your irrigation system operates within recommended water pressure ranges for optimal nozzle performance. Excessive pressure can lead to misting, while insufficient pressure can result in poor coverage.
  • Coverage Monitoring: Periodically observe the spray pattern during operation to confirm uniform coverage and proper radius. Adjust the radius screw if environmental factors (e.g., wind) or landscape changes affect performance.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficiency of your MPR nozzles:

  • Filter Screen Cleaning: Periodically remove the nozzle and clean the Pro Grey filter screen. Debris such as dirt, sand, or mineral deposits can accumulate and restrict water flow, affecting performance. Rinse the screen under running water.
  • Nozzle Head Cleaning: If the nozzle appears clogged or the spray pattern is irregular, gently clean the nozzle opening with a soft brush or by flushing it with water. Do not use sharp objects that could damage the nozzle.
  • Winterization: In colder climates, ensure your irrigation system, including the nozzles, is properly winterized to prevent freezing and damage. Consult your irrigation system's main manual for specific winterization procedures.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Irregular or Weak Spray PatternClogged filter screen or nozzle opening; Low water pressure.Clean the filter screen and nozzle opening. Check main water supply and system pressure.
No Water from NozzleCompletely clogged nozzle; Sprinkler head not popping up; Water supply off.Remove and thoroughly clean the nozzle. Check for obstructions around the sprinkler head. Ensure water supply is on.
Water Misting ExcessivelyHigh water pressure.Consider installing a pressure regulator in your irrigation system if pressure is consistently too high.
Radius Too Short/LongIncorrect radius adjustment.Adjust the stainless steel screw on top of the nozzle to fine-tune the radius.
