RDINSCOS MT69A Rechargeable Wood and Wall Moisture Meter User Manual

1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the RDINSCOS MT69A Rechargeable Moisture Meter. This device is designed for precise measurement of moisture content in various materials, including wood, walls, and concrete. It features a clear LCD display, a convenient hold function, and offers both pin and pinless measurement capabilities for versatile use. Please read this manual thoroughly before operating the device to ensure safe and effective use.

2. Safety Information

  • Always keep the device dry. Do not expose it to water or excessive humidity.
  • Avoid dropping the device or subjecting it to strong impacts.
  • Do not attempt to open or repair the device yourself. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.
  • When using the pin-type sensor, exercise caution to avoid injury from the sharp pins.
  • Important: When performing non-destructive (pinless) measurements, ensure there is no metal within a 5 cm (2 inch) radius of the measurement area. Metal objects such as pipes or rebar can interfere with readings and lead to inaccurate results.

4. Setup

4.1 Charging the Device

The MT69A moisture meter is equipped with a rechargeable lithium polymer battery. Before first use, or when the battery indicator shows low power, connect the device to a suitable USB power source using the provided charging cable. The charging indicator on the device will show its status. Ensure the device is fully charged for optimal performance.

4.2 Initial Use

Upon powering on the device for the first time, it may perform a brief self-test or calibration. Allow this process to complete. The device is designed for automatic calibration, ensuring accurate readings without manual adjustment.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

  • To power on, press and hold the Power button.
  • To power off, press and hold the Power button again. The device also features an Automatic Power Off (APO) function to conserve battery life.

5.2 Mode Selection

The MT69A supports different measurement modes for various materials:

  • WOOD Mode: For measuring moisture content in wood.
  • BLD Mode: For measuring moisture content in building materials such as walls and concrete.

Use the SET button to cycle through the available modes until the desired mode is displayed on the screen.

5.3 Taking Measurements

The device offers two methods for moisture measurement:

5.3.1 Pinless Measurement (Spherical Probe)

This method is non-destructive and ideal for quick scans. Gently place the spherical probe directly onto the surface of the material you wish to measure. The device will display the relative moisture content. Ensure the probe is in full contact with the surface for accurate readings.

5.3.2 Pin-Type Measurement (Detachable Probe)

For more precise measurements, especially in wood, attach the pin-type probe to the device. Carefully insert the pins into the material. The display will show the moisture content. This method provides direct contact readings.

5.4 Hold Function

Press the HOLD button to freeze the current reading on the display. This is useful when taking measurements in hard-to-reach areas or when you need to record the value. Press the HOLD button again to release the reading and resume live measurement.

5.5 Alarm Function

The MT69A features both visual and audible alarms to indicate high moisture levels. You can set specific alarm thresholds for different materials. When the measured moisture content exceeds the set threshold, the device will emit an audible alert and/or display a visual warning on the screen.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the pins of the pin-type probe are clean and free from debris after each use.

6.2 Storage

Store the moisture meter in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for an extended period, ensure the battery is partially charged (around 50%) to prolong its lifespan.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Device does not power on: Ensure the battery is charged. Connect to a USB power source and try again.
  • Inaccurate readings:
    • Check for metal interference within 5 cm of the measurement area (for pinless mode).
    • Ensure the probe is in full contact with the material.
    • Verify that the correct material mode (WOOD/BLD) is selected.
    • Clean the probes if they appear dirty.
  • Display is blank or flickering: The battery might be low. Recharge the device.
