Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to set up your Ankway Solar Automatic Drip Irrigation Kit:

  1. Plan Your Layout: Before cutting any tubing, plan the layout of your irrigation system. Determine how many drippers each plant pot or garden bed will require. Larger pots or high-humidity plants may need two or three drippers.
  2. Mount the Controller: Securely mount the main controller unit in a suitable location, ideally near your water source (e.g., a rain barrel or water container). Ensure it is accessible for adjustments and protected from direct harsh weather if possible, though it is designed for outdoor use.
  3. Connect Water Source: Connect the thick tubing (inlet hose) from your water source to the 'IN' port on the controller. The water level sensor with pump filter should be submerged in your water container.
  4. Connect Distribution Tubing: Connect the main distribution tubing to the 'OUT' port on the controller. This tubing will carry water to your plants.
  5. Cut and Connect Smaller Tubing: Measure and cut the smaller tubing (irrigation hoses) to the desired lengths for each plant. To make connections easier, immerse the end of the hose in hot water for about a minute before inserting the T-connections and drippers.
  6. Install Drippers: Attach the drippers to the ends of the smaller tubing. Insert the blue stakes (drippers) all the way into the soil next to your plants, ensuring the water will drip directly into the root zone. Do not leave them sticking out; push them as deep as possible.
  7. Connect Solar Panel: Connect the solar panel to the designated port on the controller. Position the solar panel in an area that receives maximum direct sunlight throughout the day to ensure optimal charging of the internal battery.

Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your irrigation system, regular maintenance is recommended:

  • Filter Cleaning: The water pump filter can become clogged over time. If the system alarms due to pump inactivity or insufficient water, check and clean the filter.
  • Tubing Inspection: Periodically inspect all tubing for kinks, blockages, or damage. Ensure drippers are not clogged with soil or debris.
  • Solar Panel Cleaning: Keep the solar panel clean from dust and debris to ensure efficient charging.
