Maintenance
1. Cleaning the Portafilter and Baskets
After each use, remove the coffee puck and rinse the portafilter and filter basket with warm water. For thorough cleaning, use a soft brush to remove any residual coffee grounds. Ensure all components are dry before storage.
2. Cleaning the Tamper and Distributor
Wipe the tamper and distributor with a damp cloth after each use. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the finish. Periodically check the tamper's spring mechanism for proper function.
3. Maintaining the Tamping Station and Knock Box
Empty the knock box bin regularly. The wooden components can be wiped with a damp cloth and dried immediately. Avoid prolonged exposure to moisture to preserve the wood finish. The rubber mats can be removed and washed with soap and water.

Troubleshooting
- Uneven Extraction (Channeling): If espresso flows unevenly or sprays from the bottomless portafilter, this indicates channeling.
- Ensure coffee grounds are evenly distributed using the adjustable depth distributor.
- Apply consistent tamping pressure with the calibrated tamper.
- Check your grind size; it might be too fine or too coarse.
- Weak or Watery Espresso:
- Verify that the tamper is applying sufficient pressure (30lb spring).
- Adjust grind size to be finer.
- Ensure the correct dose of coffee grounds is used for your filter basket.
- Difficulty Inserting/Removing Portafilter:
- Ensure the filter basket is correctly seated in the portafilter.
- Check for any coffee grounds obstructing the group head or portafilter lugs.
