4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On/Off

Once connected to power, the switch will automatically power on. To power off, disconnect the DC power cords from both power supply modules. Always ensure proper shutdown procedures if managing via CLI or GUI.

4.2 Nebula Cloud Management

If configured for Nebula cloud management, access the Nebula Control Center via a web browser. The dashboard provides a centralized view of network status, device health, and configuration options. Utilize the Nebula app for mobile monitoring and basic management tasks.

4.3 Standalone Management

For standalone operation, access the switch's local web interface or command-line interface (CLI) via the console port or a configured management IP address. Refer to the comprehensive user guide for detailed configuration of Layer 2 switching, static routing, VLANs, and other network features.

4.4 Networked AV Mode

The switch supports Networked AV mode for optimized 4K streaming in AVoIP networks. Enable and configure this mode through the management interface to enhance performance for audio/video over IP applications.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Hot-Swappable Components

The CX4800-56F-DDC features hot-swappable dual power modules and four fan trays. This design allows for replacement of these components without interrupting network service. Always consult the detailed service manual for specific replacement procedures.

5.2 Firmware Updates

Regularly check for and apply firmware updates to ensure optimal performance, security, and access to new features. Firmware updates can be managed via the Nebula cloud or the local management interface.

5.3 Cleaning and Environment

Keep the switch in a clean, dust-free environment with adequate ventilation. Periodically inspect fan trays for dust accumulation and clean as necessary to prevent overheating. Do not block ventilation openings.

6. Troubleshooting

6.1 Power Issues

  • No Power: Verify that both DC power cords are securely connected and that the power sources are active. Check the power supply status LEDs.
  • Redundant Power Failure: If one power supply fails, the other should maintain operation. Replace the faulty power supply module immediately.

6.2 Connectivity Issues

  • Port Link Down: Check fiber cable connections, transceivers, and the connected device. Verify port configuration (speed, duplex) matches the connected device.
  • No Network Access: Confirm IP address configuration, gateway settings, and DNS settings. Check for VLAN configuration issues if applicable.

6.3 Performance Issues

  • Slow Throughput: Check for port errors, excessive broadcast traffic, or network loops. Ensure appropriate transceivers are used for the desired speeds.
  • Overheating: Ensure proper ventilation and clean fan trays. Check fan status LEDs.
