3. Setup and Installation

3.1 Site Selection

Select a pipe section that meets the following criteria for optimal measurement accuracy:

  • Straight Pipe Section: Ensure a straight pipe run of at least 10D upstream and 5D downstream from the transducer installation point, where 'D' is the pipe diameter. If a pump is present upstream, the length must be beyond 30D from the pump's access.
  • Pipe Material: Compatible with steel, stainless steel, cast iron, cement pipe, copper, PVC, aluminum, FRP, and other materials. Liners are allowed.
  • Liquid Type: Suitable for water, seawater, industrial sewage, acid & alkali liquids, alcohol, beer, and various oils that can transmit ultrasonic signals, provided the liquid is uniform.
  • Liquid Temperature: Standard operating range is -30°C to 90°C. High-temperature transducers support up to 160°C.
  • Turbidity: Liquid turbidity should be less than 10000ppm.

3.2 Mounting the Main Unit

The TUF-2000B main unit is designed for wall mounting. Securely attach the unit to a stable vertical surface using appropriate fasteners. Ensure the location provides easy access for operation and visibility of the display.

3.3 Transducer Installation

The ultrasonic transducers are clamped onto the exterior of the pipe. Refer to the specific transducer model (TS-2, TM-1, TL-1) for detailed mounting instructions and spacing requirements. Ensure good acoustic coupling between the transducers and the pipe surface by applying ultrasonic coupling gel.

  • TS-2 Transducers: Suitable for pipe sizes 15-100mm.
  • TM-1 Transducers: Suitable for pipe sizes 50-700mm.
  • TL-1 Transducers: Suitable for pipe sizes 300-6000mm.

Connect the transducers to the main unit using the provided cables, ensuring secure connections to the designated ports.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Powering On

Connect the flowmeter to a stable power source. The LCD display will illuminate, showing the initial boot-up sequence.

4.2 Display Overview

The LCD with backlight displays various measurement parameters:

  • Accumulated flow/heat
  • Instantaneous flow/heat
  • Liquid velocity
  • Time
  • System status and diagnostic messages

4.3 Basic Configuration

Navigate through the menu using the keypad to input pipe parameters (diameter, material, wall thickness) and liquid type. Accurate input of these parameters is crucial for precise measurements.

4.4 Data Output

The TUF-2000B offers several output options:

  • Analogue Output: 4-20mA or 0-20mA current output (impedance 0~1kΩ, accuracy 0.1%).
  • OCT Output: Frequency signal (1~9999Hz).
  • Relay Output: Over 20 source signals (e.g., no signal, reverse flow).
  • RS485 Serial Port: For digital communication and integration with other systems.

4.5 Data Logging

The device automatically records historical data:

  • Totalizer data for the last 64 days, 64 months, and 5 years.
  • Power-on time and corresponding flow rate for the last 64 power-on/off events.
  • Instrument working status for the last 64 days.

Manual or automatic flow loss compensation can be configured.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and accuracy of your TUF-2000B flowmeter.

  • Cleaning: Keep the main unit and transducers clean. Wipe surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Transducer Coupling: Periodically check the acoustic coupling between the transducers and the pipe. Reapply coupling gel if necessary to maintain optimal signal transmission.
  • Cable Connections: Ensure all cable connections are secure and free from corrosion or damage.
  • Environmental Protection: While the unit has high IP ratings, avoid exposing it to extreme conditions beyond its specified operating range.
  • Calibration: For critical applications, periodic calibration by qualified personnel is recommended to verify accuracy.

6. Troubleshooting

This section provides solutions to common issues you might encounter.

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
No display/Power offNo power supply or faulty connection.Check power cable and source. Ensure connections are secure.
Inaccurate readingsIncorrect pipe parameters, poor transducer coupling, air bubbles in liquid, or improper transducer spacing.Verify pipe diameter, material, and wall thickness settings. Reapply coupling gel. Check for air bubbles. Adjust transducer spacing according to instructions.
No signal/Signal lossTransducers not properly installed, damaged cables, or highly turbid liquid.Ensure transducers are correctly positioned and coupled. Inspect cables for damage. Check liquid turbidity.
Keypad unresponsiveTemporary software glitch or hardware issue.Restart the device. If the problem persists, contact customer support.
