1. Introduction

This versatile tool is designed for efficient and safe yard maintenance, combining the functionality of a pole hedge trimmer and a handheld grass shear. With its adjustable features and powerful battery, it simplifies trimming hedges, shrubs, and garden edges.

2. Safety Information

WARNING: Read all safety warnings and instructions. Failure to follow the warnings and instructions may result in electric shock, fire, and/or serious injury.

  • Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) including safety glasses, gloves, and sturdy footwear when operating the trimmer.
  • Keep hands, face, and feet away from the blades.
  • Ensure the work area is clear of debris, children, and pets.
  • Do not operate the trimmer in wet conditions or rain.
  • Before performing any maintenance, cleaning, or blade changes, always remove the battery.
  • Use only the charger and battery specified by the manufacturer.
  • Store the trimmer in a dry, secure place out of reach of children.
  • Inspect the blades for damage before each use. Do not use if blades are bent or dull.

4. Setup

4.1. Battery Charging and Installation

  1. Connect the charger to a standard power outlet.
  2. Insert the battery into the charger. The indicator light will show charging status.
  3. Allow 1.5-2 hours for a full charge. Once charged, disconnect the battery from the charger.
  4. To install the battery, align the battery pack with the battery slot on the trimmer handle and slide it in until it clicks securely into place.
  5. To remove the battery, press the release button (if present) and slide the battery out.

4.2. Attaching Blades

The trimmer comes with two types of blades: a bush cutter blade and a grass cutter blade. The replacement method is simple and quick.

  1. Ensure the battery is removed before changing blades.
  2. Open the blade cover on the trimmer head.
  3. Carefully remove the existing blade (if any) by disengaging its connection.
  4. Align the desired blade (bush cutter or grass cutter) with the mechanism and secure it in place. Ensure it is firmly seated.
  5. Close the blade cover securely.

4.3. Assembling the Extension Pole

For extended reach, attach the extension pole:

  1. Ensure the trimmer unit is off and the battery is removed.
  2. Connect the trimmer head unit to one end of the extension pole.
  3. Connect the handle unit (with battery slot) to the other end of the extension pole.
  4. Ensure all connections are secure. The pole can extend up to 180cm (6ft).
  5. Adjust the length of the telescoping pole by pushing the adjustable mechanism upwards and extending or retracting the pole to your desired length.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Powering On/Off

To turn the trimmer ON, press and hold the safety switch (if applicable) and then press the power trigger. To turn OFF, release the power trigger.

5.2. Switching Between Hedge Trimmer and Grass Shear Modes

The unit can be used as a pole hedge trimmer or a handheld grass shear by adjusting the configuration and blade type. Refer to Section 4.2 for blade attachment and Section 4.3 for extension pole assembly.

5.3. Adjusting Angle and Length

  • Blade Angle Adjustment: The blade head can be adjusted by 30 degrees to reach various angles for precise trimming. Locate the angle adjustment mechanism on the trimmer head and set it to your desired position.
  • Extension Pole Length: As described in Section 4.3, the extension pole allows for length adjustment up to 180cm (6ft) for reaching tall hedges.

5.4. Proper Cutting Techniques

  • Hedge Trimming: Use a sweeping motion, moving the trimmer along the hedge. For best results, cut small amounts at a time. The bush cutter blades have an 8mm maximum opening and 19mm tooth spacing.
  • Grass Shearing: For detailed work on garden edges or small grass areas, use the handheld grass shear mode. The grass cutter blades have 16mm tooth spacing.
  • Maintain a firm grip on the handle. The ergonomic non-slip handle ensures stable grip.

6. Maintenance

6.1. Cleaning

  • After each use, ensure the battery is removed.
  • Use a stiff brush or cloth to remove debris, leaves, and sap from the blades and housing.
  • Do not use water or solvents to clean the electrical components.

6.2. Blade Care

  • Regularly inspect blades for sharpness and damage. Dull blades can strain the motor and lead to poor cutting performance.
  • If blades become dull, they can be sharpened by a professional or replaced. Refer to Section 4.2 for blade replacement.
  • Apply a light coat of machine oil to the blades after cleaning to prevent rust and ensure smooth operation.

6.3. Storage

  • Store the trimmer in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and moisture.
  • Ensure the battery is removed before long-term storage.
  • Store the trimmer out of reach of children and pets.

7. Troubleshooting
