Maintenance

Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your security system.

1. Weatherproof Design

The cameras feature an IP66 weatherproof rating, making them suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. This rating protects against dust ingress and powerful water jets, but avoid submerging the cameras.

2. General Care

  • Regularly check camera lenses for dirt or obstructions and clean gently with a soft cloth.
  • Ensure all power connections are secure and free from damage.
  • Keep the NVR in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating.
  • Periodically check for firmware updates for improved performance and security.

Troubleshooting

This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Firstrend security system.

1. No Video Display on Monitor

  • Check Power: Ensure both the NVR and cameras are properly powered on.
  • Cable Connection: Verify that the HDMI or VGA cable connecting the NVR to the monitor is securely plugged in.
  • Monitor Input: Confirm the monitor is set to the correct input source (HDMI/VGA).

2. Remote Viewing Not Working

  • Network Connection: Ensure the NVR is connected to your router via an Ethernet cable and has internet access.
  • App Setup: Double-check that the device has been correctly added to the Firstrend mobile app.
  • Router Settings: Verify that your router's firewall or security settings are not blocking the NVR's connection.

3. Motion Detection Issues

  • Sensitivity Settings: Adjust the motion detection sensitivity in the NVR settings or app. High sensitivity can lead to false alarms from environmental factors (e.g., leaves, shadows).
  • Detection Zones: Configure specific detection zones to focus on critical areas and exclude irrelevant ones.

4. Power Adapter Failure

If a camera or the NVR loses power unexpectedly, check the power adapter. If suspected faulty, contact customer support for assistance or replacement.

5. Software Compatibility (Mac)

While the mobile app supports iOS, some users have reported issues with desktop client software on Mac operating systems. Ensure you download the latest version of the client software from the official Firstrend website. If problems persist, consider using the web interface or contacting technical support.
