6. Operating Instructions

Gear Shifting (21-Speed):

Your bicycle is equipped with a 21-speed gear system (3 front gears, 7 rear gears) to adapt to various terrains.

  • Use the left shifter for the front gears (larger changes in resistance).
  • Use the right shifter for the rear gears (smaller, finer adjustments).
  • Shift to a lower gear (smaller front chainring, larger rear cog) for easier pedaling on inclines.
  • Shift to a higher gear (larger front chainring, smaller rear cog) for faster speeds on flat or downhill sections.
  • Always shift gears while pedaling lightly to ensure smooth transitions and prevent damage to the drivetrain. Avoid shifting multiple gears at once.

Braking (Dual Disc Brakes):

The dual disc brakes provide strong and consistent stopping power.

  • The right brake lever typically controls the front brake.
  • The left brake lever typically controls the rear brake.
  • For controlled stopping, apply both brakes simultaneously. Apply slightly more pressure to the rear brake to avoid skidding the front wheel, especially on loose surfaces.
  • Avoid sudden, hard braking with only the front brake, as this can cause loss of control.

Riding on Different Terrains:

The fat tires and front suspension make this bike suitable for various terrains:

  • Rough Trails: The suspension fork will absorb bumps, and fat tires provide traction. Maintain a relaxed grip on the handlebars.
  • Sand/Snow: The wide fat tires excel in these conditions, offering flotation and grip. You may need to lower tire pressure slightly for better performance in very soft conditions.
  • Uphill: Shift to a lower gear before starting an incline to maintain momentum.
  • Downhill: Use both brakes for controlled descent. Shift to a higher gear if you need to pedal for speed, or a lower gear if you anticipate needing to climb again.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your bicycle.

Pre-Ride Checks:

  • Tires: Check tire pressure before each ride. Ensure tires are free from cuts or punctures.
  • Brakes: Test both front and rear brakes. Ensure they engage firmly and release completely.
  • Quick Releases: Verify all quick-release levers (wheels, seat post) are securely closed.
  • Bolts and Nuts: Quickly check that all visible bolts and nuts are tight.

Regular Maintenance:

  • Chain: Clean and lubricate the chain regularly, especially after riding in wet or dusty conditions.
  • Brake Pads: Inspect brake pads for wear. Replace them when they are worn down to the wear indicators.
  • Gears: If shifting becomes rough or inconsistent, the gear cables may need adjustment or lubrication.
  • Cleaning: Clean your bike with mild soap and water. Avoid high-pressure washers directly on bearings.
  • Professional Service: It is recommended to have your bicycle professionally serviced at least once a year, or more frequently if you ride often or in harsh conditions.
