3.2. Software Configuration
After hardware connection, you will need to configure the print server and install printer drivers on your computers.
- Access Web Management Interface: Open a web browser on a computer connected to the same network as the print server. Enter the print server's IP address (refer to your device's default IP or check your router's connected devices list) to access the web-based management interface. Follow the on-screen instructions to configure network settings, printer sharing, and security.
- Install Printer Drivers: On each computer that will use the shared printer, install the appropriate drivers for your specific printer model. These drivers are usually provided by the printer manufacturer.
- Add Network Printer: Use your operating system's 'Add a Printer' or 'Add a Device' function to locate and connect to the printer shared via the Jectse Wireless Print Server.
4. Operating Instructions
Once configured, the Jectse Wireless Print Server allows multiple users on the network to send print jobs to the connected USB printer(s).
- Printing: From any computer with the printer drivers installed and connected to the network, select the shared printer from your application's print dialog box and send your print job as usual.
- Multi-Printer Support: The print server supports sharing up to four USB printers simultaneously. Ensure each printer is connected to a separate USB port (if using a USB hub, ensure it is powered).
- Operating System Compatibility: The device is compatible with mainstream operating systems, including Windows 7, 8, 10, 11, XP, and OS X.
5. Maintenance
To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your Jectse Wireless Print Server, follow these general maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the device. Avoid using liquid cleaners or aerosols, which may damage the components.
- Ventilation: Ensure the device is placed in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Do not block any ventilation openings.
- Power Supply: Use only the original power adapter provided with the device.
- Firmware Updates: Periodically check the manufacturer's website for any available firmware updates to improve performance and security.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Jectse Wireless Print Server, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:
- Printer Not Found:
- Ensure the print server is powered on and all cables (power, USB, Ethernet) are securely connected.
- Verify that the printer is powered on and functioning correctly when connected directly to a computer.
- Check the LED indicators on the print server. The SYS, WLAN/LAN, and BRIDGE LEDs should indicate active connections.
- Confirm that the printer drivers are correctly installed on the client computer.
- Network Connection Issues:
- For wired connections, ensure the Ethernet cable is working and connected to a functional port on your router/switch.
- For wireless connections, verify that the WPS pairing process was successful and the WLAN LED is steady. Ensure the print server is within range of your wireless router.
- Check your router's settings to ensure the print server is assigned an IP address and is not blocked by a firewall.
- Cannot Access Web Management Interface:
- Ensure your computer is on the same network segment as the print server.
- Verify the print server's IP address. If unsure, you might need to use a network scanning tool or check your router's DHCP client list.
- Resetting the Device: If issues persist, you can perform a factory reset. Press and hold the Reset Button for 6 seconds until the LED indicators flash, then release. This will revert all settings to their default values. You will need to reconfigure the device after a reset.
