4. Setup

4.1 Battery Installation

The Dr. Senst DET-306 thermometer requires 2 AAA batteries, which are included with the device.

1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the thermometer.
2. Slide the cover open in the direction indicated by the arrow.
3. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring the correct polarity (+ and -) as marked inside the compartment.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

• To Power On: Press the 'Start' button. The display will show all segments briefly, then the last measurement, and finally enter standby mode.
• To Power Off: The thermometer will automatically shut off after approximately 30 seconds of inactivity to conserve battery life.

5.2 Selecting Measurement Mode

The thermometer supports Forehead (Adult), Forehead (Child), Ear, and Object temperature measurement modes.

• Forehead Mode: Ensure the magnetic probe cover is attached. Press the 'Mode' button to cycle through adult forehead, child forehead, and object modes. The corresponding icon will appear on the display.
• Ear Mode: Remove the magnetic probe cover. The thermometer will automatically switch to ear mode.

5.3 Taking a Measurement

5.3.1 Forehead Measurement (Adult/Child)

1. Ensure the probe cover is attached and the correct forehead mode (adult or child) is selected.
2. Position the thermometer at the center of the forehead, approximately 1-3 cm (0.4-1.2 inches) away from the skin.
3. Press and release the 'Start' button.
4. The measurement will be displayed in approximately one second.

5.3.2 Ear Measurement

1. Gently remove the magnetic probe cover. The thermometer will automatically switch to ear mode.
2. Carefully insert the probe into the ear canal. For children under 1 year, pull the ear straight back. For children 1 year to adult, pull the ear up and back.
3. Press and release the 'Start' button.
4. The measurement will be displayed in approximately one second.

5.3.3 Object Measurement

1. Ensure the probe cover is attached and the object mode is selected.
2. Point the thermometer at the object whose temperature you wish to measure, approximately 1-3 cm (0.4-1.2 inches) away.
3. Press and release the 'Start' button.

5.4 Temperature Alarm and 3-Color Backlight
