INSTRUKART BH-90A-H2S Portable Hydrogen Sulfide Gas Detector User Manual
Model: BH-90A-H2S
1. Introduction
The INSTRUKART BH-90A portable single H2S gas detector is designed for continuous detection of Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) gas. This device is particularly suitable for H2S gas leakage detection in environments such as underground pipes and mining industries. Equipped with an excellent-quality sensor, it performs detection via natural diffusion, offering good sensitivity and reproducibility. The BH-90A features an embedded MCU controller for ease of operation and is housed in a special high-strength, anti-smooth rubber shell, providing water-proof and dust-proof characteristics with an IP65 rating and ATEX approval.
2. Safety Information
Please read all safety warnings and instructions carefully before operating the device. Failure to follow these instructions may result in injury or damage to the detector.
- Do not attempt to open or modify the detector. Unauthorized modifications can compromise safety and void the warranty.
- Ensure the detector is regularly calibrated according to recommended intervals to maintain accuracy.
- Operate the device within the specified temperature and humidity ranges to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
- Avoid exposing the detector to extreme physical shock or corrosive substances.
- In case of an alarm, follow established safety protocols for the detected gas. Do not rely solely on the detector for personal safety in hazardous environments.
- Only use the provided charging cable and adapter.

4.2. Charging the Battery
Before first use, fully charge the detector's internal Li-battery.
- Connect the charging cable to the detector's charging port.
- Connect the other end of the cable to the power adapter.
- Plug the power adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
- The LCD display will indicate charging status. A full charge typically takes 4 to 6 hours.
- Once fully charged, disconnect the charger. The device is ready for use.
Note: The detector has a working time of ≥8 hours continuously on a full charge.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1. Powering On/Off
- To Power On: Press and hold the Power button (usually marked with a circle and vertical line) for a few seconds until the LCD screen illuminates and the device performs a self-test.
- To Power Off: Press and hold the Power button again until the device powers down. Confirm shutdown if prompted.
5.2. Normal Operation
Once powered on, the detector will enter normal monitoring mode. The LCD will display the current H2S gas concentration in parts per million (ppm), along with temperature and time.
- Ensure the sensor opening is clear and not obstructed.
- Carry the detector in the area where H2S gas detection is required.
- The device continuously samples the air via natural diffusion.
5.3. Alarm Indications
The BH-90A-H2S detector provides multiple alarm indications when H2S concentration exceeds preset levels:
- Visual Alarm: LED lights will flash.
- Audible Alarm: A distinct sound will be emitted.
- Vibration Alarm: The device will vibrate.
The default low alarm level is 10 ppm, and the high alarm level is 20 ppm. These levels are adjustable.
5.4. Menu Navigation and Settings
Use the navigation buttons (up/down arrows) to scroll through menu options and the power button (or a dedicated 'Enter' button if present) to select. Refer to the on-screen prompts for specific setting adjustments, including:
- Adjusting low and high alarm levels.
- Setting the calibrating level.
- Viewing historical data (if available).
- System information.
Consult the on-screen menu for detailed instructions on specific settings.
6. Maintenance
6.1. Cleaning
Keep the detector clean to ensure proper operation.
- Wipe the exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Ensure the sensor opening is free from dust and debris. Do not insert any objects into the sensor opening.
6.2. Calibration
Regular calibration is crucial for maintaining the accuracy of the gas detector. The adjustable calibrating level feature allows for precise calibration.
- Refer to the device's menu for calibration procedures.
- Calibration should be performed in a clean air environment or with certified calibration gas, as appropriate.
- It is recommended to calibrate the detector regularly, or as required by local regulations and industry standards.
6.3. Sensor Life
The H2S sensor has an estimated life of 2 years. Beyond this period, sensor accuracy may degrade, and replacement is recommended to ensure continued reliable detection.
