Setup & Installation
Follow these steps for optimal installation of your Chiligent Sound Deadening Kit:
- Step 1: Remove the Existing Vent & Clean
Carefully remove the existing vent cover from the wall or ceiling. Clean the area around and inside the vent opening thoroughly to ensure proper adhesion of the soundproofing mat.
- Step 2: Cut to Fit
Measure the dimensions of your vent opening. If necessary, trim the soundproofing mat and the mesh vent cover to fit the exact size of your vent. The materials are designed to be easily cut with standard scissors or utility knife.

Peel off the protective backing from the soundproofing mat to expose the adhesive layer. Carefully align the mat with the inside of the vent opening and press firmly to ensure secure adhesion. Ensure the mat covers the desired area for sound dampening.
- Step 4: Install the Mesh
Attach the hook and loop tape (provided) to the edges of the vent opening and the corresponding edges of the mesh vent cover. Align the mesh cover over the vent opening and press the hook and loop fasteners together to secure it in place. Ensure the mesh is taut and covers the opening completely.

Operating Instructions
Once installed, the Chiligent Sound Deadening Kit operates passively to reduce noise and manage airflow. No active operation or power is required. The soundproofing mats continuously absorb vibrations, and the mesh covers maintain consistent airflow while preventing debris entry.
Maintenance
The Chiligent Sound Deadening Kit requires minimal maintenance:
- Cleaning: Periodically inspect the mesh vent covers for dust or debris accumulation. Gently wipe them clean with a damp cloth. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Inspection: Occasionally check the adhesion of the soundproofing mats and the security of the mesh covers. Re-apply or adjust the hook and loop tape if necessary to ensure continued effectiveness.
- Durability: The materials are designed for long-term use in typical indoor environments.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your sound deadening kit, consider the following:
- Reduced Noise Reduction:
- Ensure the soundproofing mat is fully adhered to the vent interior and covers the maximum possible surface area.
- Verify that the mesh cover is securely attached and not allowing air to bypass the edges.
- Check for any gaps or unsealed areas around the vent opening itself.
- Mesh Cover Not Staying in Place:
- Ensure the hook and loop tape is clean and free of dust or lint.
- Press firmly along the entire length of the hook and loop tape to ensure strong adhesion.
- If the tape loses its stickiness over time, replace it with new hook and loop tape.
- Airflow Restriction:
- While the mesh is designed to disperse airflow, ensure it is not excessively clogged with dust. Clean the mesh as per maintenance instructions.
- Verify that the mesh is not installed in a way that completely blocks the vent opening.

The Chiligent Sound Deadening Kit is suitable for various air vents, HVAC vents, and ducts in different environments, including but not limited to:
- Living Rooms
- Bedrooms
- Offices
- Bathrooms
