3. Product Overview and Features

4. Setup
4.1 Battery Installation
To install the battery:
- Ensure the radio is powered off.
- Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the radio.
- Remove the battery compartment cover.
- Insert the 2000mAh Li-ion battery into the compartment, ensuring the contacts align.
- Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it firmly.

4.2 Charging the Radio
The RB48 walkie talkie features a 2000mAh lithium battery and supports USB-C charging.
- Place the radio into the charging base.
- Connect the charging cable to the charging base and then to the power adapter.
- Plug the power adapter into a standard electrical outlet.
- The charging indicator on the radio or base will show the charging status (e.g., red for charging, green for fully charged).
- A full charge typically takes approximately 3-4 hours.
4.3 Attaching Accessories
- Belt Clip: Align the belt clip with the designated slots on the back of the radio and slide it down until it clicks into place.
- Lanyard: Thread the lanyard through the loop on the top or side of the radio.
- Earpiece: Insert the 2.5mm plug of the G-type earpiece into the audio jack on the side of the radio. Ensure it is fully inserted for proper connection.

5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Power On/Off
To power on the radio, rotate the Power/Volume knob clockwise until you hear a click. To power off, rotate the knob counter-clockwise until it clicks.
5.2 Channel Selection
To change the operating channel:
- Press the Menu key once. The current channel number will flash on the display.
- Use the side Up/Down buttons to select the desired channel.
- Press the PTT (Push-to-Talk) button to save the selection.
5.3 CTCSS/DCS (Privacy Codes)
CTCSS (Continuous Tone-Coded Squelch System) and DCS (Digitally Coded Squelch) codes help filter out unwanted conversations on a channel.
- Press the Menu key twice. The CTCSS/DCS setting will flash.
- Use the side Up/Down buttons to select the desired CTCSS/DCS code.
- Press the PTT button to save the selection.

5.4 Push-to-Talk (PTT) Operation
To transmit, press and hold the PTT button located on the side of the radio. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to receive.

5.5 VOX Function (Voice Operated Exchange)
The VOX function allows for hands-free transmission. When activated, the radio will transmit automatically when it detects your voice.
- Refer to the radio's menu settings to enable and adjust the VOX sensitivity level (0-9).
- A higher sensitivity level means the radio will transmit with softer voice input.
5.6 Emergency Alarm
In an emergency, press the dedicated SOS button (if available) or follow the manual's instructions to activate the emergency alarm. This will emit a loud alert signal.
5.7 Vibration Reminder
The vibration reminder function alerts you to incoming calls through vibration, which is useful in noisy environments or when discretion is required. This feature can typically be enabled or disabled through the radio's menu.
5.8 NOAA Weather Alert
To access NOAA weather channels and alerts:
- Navigate to the NOAA weather channel mode via the menu.
- Select from the 11 available NOAA channels to receive local weather broadcasts and emergency alerts.
5.9 Key Locking/Unlocking
The Key-Lock function prevents accidental button presses.
- To lock the keys, long press the Menu key until a key lock icon appears on the display.
- To unlock, long press the Menu key again until the key lock icon disappears.
6. Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the radio's exterior. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
- Battery Care: Fully charge the battery before initial use. For long-term storage, charge the battery to approximately 50% and store in a cool, dry place. Avoid extreme temperatures.
- Water and Dust Protection: While the RB48 is IP67 rated, ensure all port covers are securely closed to maintain water and dust resistance.
