5. Operating Instructions: Using the Test Strips

These instructions describe the general procedure for using EAGLENOS Blood Lactate Test Strips. Always refer to your specific lactate meter's user manual for detailed instructions on meter operation.

5.1. Preparation

  1. Ensure your lactate meter is clean, functional, and has sufficient battery power.
  2. Wash your hands thoroughly with soap and warm water, then dry them completely.
  3. Prepare a lancing device and a new sterile lancet (not included).
  4. Remove one test strip from the vial and immediately close the cap tightly.
  5. Insert the test strip into the meter as directed by your meter's manual. The meter should turn on automatically or prompt you to apply blood.

5.2. Performing the Test

  1. Prick your fingertip (or other approved site) with the lancing device to obtain a blood sample.
  2. Gently squeeze your finger to form a round drop of blood.
  3. Touch the tip of the test strip to the blood drop. The blood will be drawn into the strip by capillary action. Do not apply blood to the top of the strip.

5.3. Reading Results

  1. Hold the strip in place until the meter indicates that enough blood has been applied.
  2. The meter will begin a countdown. The response time for these strips is approximately 10 seconds.
  3. After the countdown, your lactate result will be displayed on the meter's screen.
  4. Remove the used test strip and dispose of it properly.

6. Troubleshooting

If your lactate meter displays specific messages, refer to the following common indicators:

  • "LO" Message: This indicates that the measured lactate value is too low, below the meter's detectable range (e.g., less than 0.5 mmol/L).
  • "HI" Message: This indicates that the measured lactate value is too high, above the meter's detectable range (e.g., greater than 28 mmol/L).

For other error messages or persistent issues, consult your lactate meter's user manual or contact customer support.
